  1. Re:Why does this problem exist in the first place on Mayor Bloomberg Battles Fleet Owners Over NYC 'Taxi of Tomorrow' · · Score: 1

I was always amazed on how well organized are in the US. Taxi drivers here in Mexico City are free to choose watever car model they want to for a taxi, as long as they follow the graphic scheme and colors. Then in the 80's we ended with 90% of the taxis being two-door VW beetles. Aside from being cheap and not very cosy, they were a mortal trap, because there was/is a chance you hop on a VW and you get an express kidnapping, But VW Beetle were cheap, right?

Maybe major Bloomberg needs to be more transparent on why that specific model of car won the bidding.

The last couple of years I''ve felt like the TSA agents are more loose and even smile and talk a like with passengers, but passengers are similarily tamed since 2001. Of course this is my perception, not a scientific research.

The script is very well done in terms of human relationships and interactions. It's not a movie about fart jokes, the characters are fairly complex (for an animated movie). It is worth to watch it before forming any opinion.

She had several options, and the advice from her doctor was to choose any of the couple of reducing stomach interventions. All the other options which include putting some kind of contraption into the stomach fail in a big percentage of the patients. This happens because patients learn to control the comtraptions, air balloons, etc. and end tricking them to eat more.

We use commercial and open source software in my animation studio, money is not a huge problem if it helps to deliver a project on time. I'm the boss, I pick the software we buy, and the animators choose what they want to use. Blender is so fast for rigging and animation. Animation is a blast to do in Blender. Fast posing, no gimbal locks, fast keyframe repositioning, etc. Blender renders faster in Linux than in Windows, and is very stable. Something I can't say for other programs.

We just delivered 15 minutes of animation for a recent Guns N' Roses concert in Las Vegas. We're talking a lot of frames, at full HD resolution. As part of the videos. the band singer asked if we could please create and animate a white, hairy wolf, and we did it in two days (that was our time limit).

I have to aknowledge its akward interface. Even with the 2.5 tweaks it feels strange. I think this is the only major feature you can say may alienate new users.

  25. You're being delusional on Discworld Fan Film Possibly the Largest Scale Fan Film Ever · · Score: 1

I'm a tv producer. When producing a short, feature, tv series, etc. and you're looking for money you need to have very clear your budget. Maybe you can count with donations like this project, but any contribution should count as part of the budget.

It's very common when you're producing that your investors and partners don't want to pay for the whole development or pre-production, they think the same as you do that some work doesn't has a cost. But everything has a cost, from the original story (are they paying something to Mr. Pratchett or the editors?), to the guy doing the screen writing (hey, adapting a short story to a movie film takes time and talent, most of the time only the former), and all the rest of the stuff to finish a project.

What you do when the investors don't want to pay for the development? you include these figures in the production budget. But wait! the investor don't want to pay for the post-production, what you do? you include the cost in the development or start looking for more investors. They think your movie costs X, but in rality costs more, a lot more.

It's a trap to think you don't need to count donations as part of the budget, it's a trap investors use in their favor.
