  1. Old dilema on DOJ Turns Up the Heat On Google's Book Deal · · Score: 1

At some point this will be on the same road of mp3... authors and publishers will finally see the benefits of a book search engine. I think this will not stop people to buy paper or electronic books.

  2. Wow! on Wal-Mart Enters the Used Game Fray · · Score: 1

Good news for DRM lovers like Electronic Arts! Eat that!

It's our right to do whatever we want with our purchased games, included but not limited to, sell them to others when we finished playing.

Shutting down the system every two hours is a big step forward. Other Windows version shut down every ten minutes or so.

    Nice feature!

  5. You're wrong EA on 99.8% of Gamers Don't Care About DRM, Says EA · · Score: 1

Well... that is your answer to us, your customers with concerns about the DRM?

Perfect! I decided to not buy anything with DRM ever again in my life, but this kind of answer shows that EA doesn't care about its customers... so, I'm cancelling my purchases of ANY game from EA until those bastards change their mind.

I think that 99.8% of customers that have concerns about DRM will not buy from you. Hope it hurts in your pockets.

  6. Few important points on Blizzard Answers Your Questions, From Blizzcon · · Score: 1

Hello, glad to have this opportunity.

I'm a big fan of blizzard games since many years ago.
Now I migrated all my systems to Apple Macs and was very happy to see that Blizzard has a nice support for Mac OS X, so I hope this support continues.

Basically I want to tell to Blizzard that we need LAN gaming support. Usually I buy 2 copies of each game (if they support LAN play) so I can play with someone else in my home. So, my vote for this.

And maybe the most important issue for me at this time, and a wide concern among customers is the use of DRM. I cancelled two pre-orders of games from EA due to the DRM and SecuROM root kit. Looks like that company didn't learned the leason very well after the thousands of negatives feedbacks on Amazon (including myself). So, that is a valid concern and I really don't want to have to deal with a DRM in my system or have limited installations of a game I legally purchase. Is Blizzard going to use DRM in their games?

  13. Re:I think it's good on Australian ISPs Required To Report Child Porn · · Score: 1

I got your point of view. I know that the real problem starts with the parents as well and I also know that this perversion is almost impossible to stop due to many factors, but what I think is if we, as parents, take actions against this when we see it (like a website, an individual we know, etc.), at least we can contribute to "reduce" this abuse. Education starts at home, if the home is a complete mess, there are high possibilities to see situations like child porn/abuse and when abused childs mature they can become one of those who enjoy with this perversion. But a good step is a good step, and if we can give something to help on the matter I think it will be welcome, don't you think?

  14. I think it's good on Australian ISPs Required To Report Child Porn · · Score: 1

    Loable decision... clap-clap-clap!
There are ways to detect this kind of activities, maybe not a precise tool, but on any server can be installed some kind of customized packet sniffer that detects file names (for images or compressed files), emails from mailing lists, attachments, etc. Of course that any person knowing this can take care to not be so obvious.
Anyway, I think this is a good (not enough) step to prevent or stop in some way this degrading activity. I take my hat of for this, anyone who has childrens should support any effort to stop child abuse.

  15. PHP-Nuke: a GPL option on Content Management Nightmares · · Score: 2, Informative

Obviously, as PHP-Nuke's author, I can't be too much objetive on this matter.

There are a lot of Content Mnagement Systems on the net to try out.

PHP-Nuke is just one of them with many nice features that maybe can solve your needs. But with so many options (free software options) you need to try then decide.

Download all of them, test each one and decide for the better option. You have many options like PHP-Nuke, Postnuke, Slashcode, PHPSlash, Zope, Thatware, PHPWeblog, Xoops, MyPHPnuke, etc... etc.. etc... I can only speak for PHP-Nuke but I prefer that you try and evaluate it yourself.

Hope you can find the best solution in the "free" world ;)

    Regards!
