To use a line from History of The World Part I, I prefer to think of Henry as a "Stand Up Philosopher".
I've seen Henry in concert several times, both for his band and his spoken word. I've had the privilige to meet him in person (outside the Tower Records on Sunset in Hollywood).
Henry is the kind of guy you want to hang out with. Very cool, and always has the coolest things to say.

In the U.S. a wife can be considered a "lore" item, since you can only have one.
A majority of my movies are in Divx3. A few are in Divx4, no real difference than Divx3, qualitywise. Now, I'm doing dualpass Divx5. Granted, it takes upwards of 8hrs to do both passes on my AthlonXP 1.53. So what, start a compress when I go to sleep or go to work. It's done when I'm back home.
Am I going to go back and re-rip and recompress all my Divx3 movies? Nope. The quality is ok for me. If I want a movie in a higher quality, then I buy it on DVD. For most movies, Divx is fine.
And, yes, I prefer to watch movies on my PC. My 19" monitor is much higher quality than my TV, my desk chair is comfy, and I don't even watch television programs. All I need is my computer.
Hmmm, maybe that's why my marriage is in trouble, you think?
I'm a small time seller trying to make some money through fraud. I am incensed that the "Power Sellers" are allowed to commit fraud with no repercussions from eBay. Yet, the small businessman like myself is screwed out of millions of dollars of stupid buyer's money. It's favoritism! It's nepotism! It's discriminationism! It's alot of other -ism words! [/sarcasm]
The scene where the glass windows of the buildings shatter and rain down on the crowd still impresses the hell out of me.
I would rather see a second movie follow the comic series. But considering that Akira lived in the comics, and died in the movie, that might be kind of hard.
Dammit, stop trying to remake every semi-successful foreign flick. Just work on some of the anxiously awaited comic projects here in the US. I'm still waiting on a Terry Gilliam-directed The Watchmen.
I'm 32 now. Between my dad's Apple][ and the Atari 2600 and arcades, I've spent (wasted) approx 7 years total time playing a game of some sort.
Fast forward to 2002. I'm now 32, still playing games, and now I can afford the hardware needed for most current games. GTA3 is my current obsession (and I know I'm not the only one).
I actually had a kid working at Best Buy ask me if I was buying a game for their kid when I was perusing the game aisle. I've been gaming since he was still a dribble in his mom.
Can't wait till my kids are old enough to play the hardcore stuff. Until then, it's GT3 on the PS2.

That's good, because most of us gamers are also short and semi-interesting as well...
I resent that remark. I'm at least 6'2", thank you very much!
I worked for a Pirate radio station in Tijuana a few years ago. Technically, they weren't illegal, they just had their station and transmitter about 150yds from the border in San Diego and blasted about 75,000 watts.
They had a "subsidiary" that was stationed on a old oil drilling ship, that sat moored off outside in international waters off the coast of NYC, and broadcast at 60,000 watts. People there would work and live on the ship, only going ashore about once a month for supplies.
You're right. Jon Katz should give it instead. That would inspire more emotion from the readers...
Not exactly the kind of emotions we want to inspire, is it? How will a couple million geeks knashing their teeth and wailing about how crappy Katz is help?

And American culture isn't forced down the throats of the rest of the world. Try going anywhere in the world and not see a damn Coke or Pepsi machine. How about McDonalds in Moscow or Beijing? What about how the Germans are subjected to repeated assaults of David Hasselhoff singing?
It's a very limited release, and it's something that I'm looking forward to. Hell, I'd like to see more foreign releases in American theatres, and less of the tripe that's currently in circulation (Pluto Nash anyone??). Seeing Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon on the big screen in full DTS sound WITH SUBTITLES was one of the best movie-going experiences I've had in a long time. Wish I could have seen Mononoke Hime in a theatre.
Here ya go. Five digit slashdot account number maxed out on karma! I'll even throw in an ebay account with feedback in the low thousands (and only one negative (frigging thief!))
Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars? Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man, two chicks at the same time, man. Peter Gibbons: That's it? Peter Gibbons: Good point. Lawrence: What about you, what would you do? Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time? Lawrence: Well yeah. Peter Gibbons: Nothing. Lawrence: Nothing, huh? Peter Gibbons: I'd relax, sit on my ass all day, I would do nothing. Lawrence: Well you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Just take a look at my cousin, he's broke, don't do shit.
Oh GOD no!! You mean the O&A wannabe's on the crappy DC station? Nope, I'm the original Flounder, all others are poor imitations.
Anyway, I'm in Frederick, and I'm so sick of the housing situation here, I'm ready to move back to Ohio. Friggin people spending $300k on a damn townhouse. They deserve to loose their shirts when the bottom falls out of the real estate market here.
Q: Why on earth would you continue to live there then? A: Obviously you've never been to SF.
I'll ask again. Why on earth would you continue to live there? I've been to SF, and except for the great chinese food, why?
I currently live in MD, in the distant DC suburbs. $300k in this area will buy you a basic 3bed 2bath house. Get closer to DC and you're looking at around $500k-$800k for the kind of house that would run you $150k anywhere else in the country.
I lived in SoCal from birth to age 25, I felt plenty. I lived in Northridge during the quake there. It's not exactly something I would have complained about if I had missed it.

Be original, or be different. It doesn't matter.

Of course, he could just need that extra buck to pay for the parking meter when he went to the courthouse to file the lawsuit.
I'm thinking about filing a small claims court suit against him for abject stupidity. Let him come to Maryland and defend against it.
Maybe we all should do this.

Man, I feel stupid now for that rant. I need to clean my monitor and/or glasses.
Monster's Inc is actually worth buying on DVD, if just for the second disc. Wal-Mart here has it for $14.87, same price as the VHS release.

Is this option also available for spouses and children? I'm only really looking for a vacation family out in the country.
