Believable ideas for April 1st jokes:
    - New Quad-Core Raspberry Pi! Oh crap, that's a real thing already.
    - Microsoft giving away free copies of Windows! Damnit...
    - Apple releasing a new Mac mini that's weaker than the previous models! Oh wait...

Asking "makers" to learn to make their own circuits and boards is the same as asking programmers to code their own operating system and programming language.

There's a reason why pre-built 3D printers, CNC routers and laser cutters are being sold, not everyone sees their tools as a project of its own, most of us just want to use the tools to make our projects.

  12. Apple did not "capture the market" by "colluding with chosen carriers", the guy was talking about the iPod. That's pre-iPhone era. That's from the basically-all-the-MP3-players-suck era, when you drag and dropped files to MP3 players and then basically had to use "File Explorer" to play your music. Apple added a way to manage and play music files more intelligently via iTunes and metadata.

So for the iPod, Apple did compete on merit, despite its price and despite iTunes running like mollasses on Windows.

There's still a huge difference between being able to design circuits and just being able to code something and connect pre-made modules via a few analog and digital I/O pins.

  15. The company had low hopes of a successful landing from the start of this mission, since the rocket had to send a heavy satellite into a high orbit. That requires a lot of fuel for the launch itself, so there wasn't much fuel left for the rocket's return to Earth and powered landing.

So their design allows them to send heavy loads into orbit but that requires so much fuel that they can't land it afterward.

So either don't launch things heavier than X, or increase the fuel capacity. It's not rocket sci... oh wait, it is!
