    Has 2 RAM slots, all I had seen on the hack board was someone getting a 128MB stick working.

    I have one bit no time to hack it until this coming weekend, one of the first upgrades will be RAM.

    Also, you can overclock it to 266MhZ or so.

    If you are jamming a whole area, like the "bubble" the original article speaks of, you are jamming EVERYBODY in the bubble, including yourself.

    This has much greater implications for civilian fleets than it does for the military.

    The reason that the signal was not mudged for the Gulf War was becuase so many units (I think mostly US Army) had to use off-tht-shelf civilian GPS. The military models were not available in quantity.

    No big mystery, it was a simple problem and a simple solution.

    The simple implementation of this little CGI variable "HTTP_REFERER" or it's equivelant in your development package, wil control "deep links". If you want to annoy people with your fron NASCAR style page, you can make that come up automatically no matter where someone trys to enter your site.

    Other option, mentioned several times above, have content in the middle of each page and common borders around it.

    This is one of the most annoying non-issues on the web.

    Check the Spring 2000 edition of 2600, Emmanuel wrote that they will be doing something similar to what you are saying if they keep getting muzzled, down to publishing it in paragraph form (I think, copy of mag not here at my desk, but I remember the editorial).

    Unfortunately, too many judges, cops and politicians believe just the opposite. I only hope that use will determing legality in this area and hope that it spreads to other areas, like ending the license restrictions (in some areas) for lockpicks and guns.

    I do remember seeing that wording, but the source is the movie industry (when playing a movie, it is in the "FBI warning").

    However, I *beleive* the actual law provides for you to make and keep one copy, i.e., you are authorized by statute no matter what the studio wants. Sorry, at real job at the time of this writing so can't research it properly. I am sure others know where the relevant info is and will let everybody know.

    In the USA, individuals ARE allowed to make a backup copy of whatever they buy.

    But I am sure the MPAA will make an issue of it.

    Seems that lots of folks keep forgetting about the ground stations these things use. Yea, yea, the satellite can communicate directly with your phone or other device that can use the signal. BUT, the system still has ground stations that need to be maintained, that means continuing bills, including a payroll.

    I could do every durn thing related to my regular job as a logistics analyst, from home on a 28.8 connection, with my own equipment and setup the VPN myself.

    I only meet face to face on work items occasionally and the rest of the time it is more social.

    The company will not let anybody do that, no idea why, they just don't and they recently began VPN service for some managers.

    On the writing-on-the-side-for-free gig, no problem at all, never met the cofounders of securitygeeks.com, everything I do there is from wherever my computer is connected.

    I would swap the two in a second.

    Here in the USA, the word "Coke" is a common term, referring to both the beverage and the drug. Even though the Coca-Cola corp has a trademark on the word "coke". You might be able to make a good challenge.

    Not sure how they look at these things where you are and the caviat is that once you get a bunch of lawyers and a judge involved there is no limit to the nonsense that can be generated.

    This sounds like an Isaac Azimov short story, forgot the name, read it ages ago. It ends with a massivly powerful computer that takes up zero space and recreates the universe. The story bounces back and forth through computer evolution, some networked, then others self contained, etc.

    Excuse me, but HUH? That global warming psuedo science propoganda was around long before 1989. Dr. Carl Segan made an entire career out of that tripe, along with other hysteric predictions based upon baseless models and wasted supercomputer cycles.

They did pass joint resolutions HJ277 and SJ239 which will create a joint subcommittee to study the UCITA and its language.
