Funny, but a similar story a few weeks ago led me to find Alice and HANDS, two beginner's language projects. HANDS is not presently available (though you could talk to the author), and, though it presents a very interesting computer model (something children can more readily understand than the Newton machine), it is a bit limited.
Alice is more conventional, but it's completely drag&drop (preventing syntax errors and making block limits clear), and it has a nice library of 3D objects that children are so fond of playing with these days. And it's freely available.
Sorry, but you'll have to google for them, as I don't have a link handy.
Pretty much all cell phones have OMA DRM. You can find explanations about it pretty much everywhere. What *is* OMA DRM? Basically, the standard cell phone transference functions (send through bluetooth, upload, etc) won't work on certain kinds of files.
So you buy SeleQ or some other file manager, and do it anyway. As far as DRM go, this is the best one we could have asked for.:-)
After a nice experience with 3650 (which is of similar size, btw), I tried to select which cell phone would best fit my needs, and I just couldn't find one. 7610 comes close, but it's sound sucks. Sendo X is a good alternative, but with a VGA camera it's kind of limited (the led flash is nice, though). P900 (and P910) is very nice, but, again limited camera and sound. Same goes for Treo 600 (and 650). Others have too little memory, etc.
So, what does 7710 brings? Stylus-input. Radio. Stereo sound. Megapixel camera. Enough memory to run Doom (and load my DVD collection...:)). And a display very nice for reading books.
So, how to dial? I don't know about you, but I have been dialing most of the time through voice or the contacts application on my last three phones, so I don't expect 7710's awkward dialing to trouble me much.
So, there's just not that much space for music retailers anymore, is there? Well, what people think has happened to space for MUSICIANS with the advent of recorded music? Try to imagine how many people would earn their livings with music if all music had to be live.
What do you mean "imagine other companies..."? What do you think the likes of Accenture do? Mind you, I'm extremely happy with work by Accenture, unlike some lower-bidders who replaced them for some contracts...
Just a matter of people discovering they can read books on their mobile phones AND other publishes following Baen Books lead by making ALL books available in a WIDE range of format WITH NO DRM!
In the article he compares the science generated by robot expeditions all around the solar system versus the science generated by the shuttle and the ISS.
Well, why doesn't he compare science generated by robots AROUND EARTH ORBIT against the shuttle and ISS? Of course robot expeditions to places NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE generates more knowledge! Now send a human there, and you'll see even more knowledge come out of it.
Besides, science is irrelevant. The main reason to go to space is the egg basket problem.
Well, the very worst case is blindness. Some doctors do extensive tests to reduce the risk factor, some are not so strict. I'd advise to consult with a few doctors, and chose the one with the most strict requirements. And if you do not fulfill those requeriments, then don't.
Now, note that FULL CORRECTION IS UNLIKELY. You are quite likely to still have some degree of whatever you have. Particularly if you have a very high degree of it to begin with.
Next, night vision is degraded.
Now, having said all that, I did the operation and I was particularly lucky in that I don't need to wear glasses anymore (though I did not achieve full correction). Since I absolutely hated to wear glasses, and haven't had any particularly bad side effects (yet! eyes take 20 years to regenerate, so there's still plenty time to something go wrong -- that happened to all patients of the first surgical techniques), I'm very happy about it. The first time I woke up and managed to read the title of the books in the bookshelves from my bed... that was fantastic!:-)
Mind you, my night vision was definitely degraded, but I had good night vision to begin with.
Mmmmm... "I understand" is a literal translation of "wakarimasu", which is used in a non-literal way like "I'm listening to you" or "I'm paying attention to you".
Like, for instance, english speakers say "yes" or "uh huh" while the other people is talking, NOT because they agree with anything, but simply to indicate they are paying attention.
So, when the japanese told you they understood you, they probably meant they were listening to you.
This is not the first time I see people complaining that all they want is a plain phone, and somehow contrasting this to research showing more complex cell phones are starting to dominate.
Bullocks. I work for a cell phone carrier, and the simple fact is that we don't sell more high-end cell phones because demand far exceeded expectations (and, thus, supply).
People mainly want games, though cameras are also very much in demand. The main constrains wrt cameras is price and low quality compared to "traditional" (hah!) digital cameras. Both these constrains are not intrinsic to cell phone cameras. For one thing, one can expect volume in cell phones with cameras to far exceed volume in digital cameras alone.
Now, the people I mainly see complaining about this features are people who grew up with notebooks and pdas and digital cameras, and, having just reached that point in life where one becomes used to the world, are suddenly unhappy that it keeps changing.
For whatever it is worth, while I do not own such a case, I have been VERY happy with the low-noise line of Zalman coolers, and I know they have other things such as video cards, hard drives and power supplies.
If I _had_ US$1400 to spend on a case, I would most certainly consider it. I like silence.
Turbo 300 Ate 300 Kbps Ate 150 Kbps R$ 81,04
Turbo 600 Ate 600 Kbps Ate 300 Kbps R$ 100,41
Mega Turbo Ate 1 Mbps Ate 300 Kbps R$ 201,83
On top of that you need an ISP, of course, which usually price around R$20.
The breakdown, so people don't need to go Yahoo Finances, is about US$33 for 300/150 Kbps, US$40 for 600/300 Kbps and US$70 for 1000/300 Kbps.
And there is no download cap. Or, at least, none that I have ever reached. I have the "Mega Turbo" myself, and I have easily downloaded more than 6 GB december.
BrT has one competitor, GVT, which seems to price their product similarly.

???
I played Ogg on my 3650, no problem. Well, 3650's *sound* sucked, but...
...can't wait to get my hands on it!
:)). And a display very nice for reading books.

Well, does Opera supports JavaScript???

The most interesting thing is that this is precisely the technique suggested in the 1957 book "Parkinson's Law".
:-)
I'm not sure the original was serious, though...
Of course, citizens from Puerto Rico might be offended by a fellow american calling it Peurto Rico. :-)
If US has about 4% of the world population, what's the problem with a 6% figure?
That's not evolution, it's a step back. Kinda like a meteor falling on Earth and killing all but single cell life.

Well, it doesn't fold, so maybe it is a bit expensive. I'd pay more than $1500 for it.

Funny. Here in Brazil I can have a video phone installed, though it's targetted more at people who need video conference.
Let me expand on "largest city in Brazil". A few years ago it numbered 11 million people, among the 10 biggest cities in the world.
City of God is a 2002 movie, not a 2003 movie.
At 2 million people it can hardly be called a small city.
I live in Brazil's capital (which happens to be Brasilia, not Buenos Aires :), and there's not even a THX movie theather.

To those, I have only one comment: dinossaurs!
Alas, I made the same assumption. Mind you, I'm brazilian and I have never worked in the USA.
