Grats for the info... but the.shopping.isEnabled doesn't work.. must be under a different name, still trying to get rid of it myself cause it's annoying... also, ns 4.7 adds a "Find" button next to stop..... didn't give it enough screen area before with my netscape and such enabled...

They seem to have updated their poll... not freshmeat.net is there (not freshmeat.org) and slashdot is in there as a choice... they might've updated others choices too, I just noticed those two errors/ommisions in a quick skim through the comments.
On a related link, saw a quick blurb about corel linux in GCN (Government Computer News, I do computers + commo gear atm.. so I try to keep up on these things) http://206.144.247.65/vol18_no28/news/523-1.html here. (Too lazy/tired atm to make it a link) Has some errors (what's the Debian Linux kernel?) but good to see some exposure in the government mags... the print version has a screenshot of one of the installer screens, but the link doesn't seem to.
After a fun day programming radios (what? They're not working? no wonder... erm, they're programmable, yes.. WHAT!! WHO changed all the channels to different frequencies?? Where's the book to reprogram them?!?! etc, end rant. ) I decided to see if xfstt's true type fonts could help x look better... still in the process oif installing it, but apt-get install xfstt makes life a lot easier after a unfun day..
erm, try xfstt. then you can use truetype fonts... I assume you've not tried that yet.
Sorry for the rant, long day.:)
p.s. How long has the "Post Anonymously" checkbox been there?
I remember reading somewhere that although ipv6 is 128 bit addresses (iirc), only the last 64 bits are used for actuall address... thr rest are country, state, etc... (not sure how it's split up in this part) but you automacically keep your ip and routers can figure out from the first part of the addy if they've got to drop packets to your backyard or to china... I remember that it promised to make routing much simpler, iirc...
From/usr/src/linux-2.2.12/README - - Make sure you have gcc-2.7.2 or newer available. It seems older gcc versions can have problems compiling newer versions of Linux. This is mainly because the older compilers can only generate "a.out"-format executables.
And from my dmesg: Linux version 2.2.12 (root@elvii) (gcc version 2.95.1 19990809 (prerelease)) #1
Seems to be working thus far.:)
The only "showstopper" bug I've seen in gcc 2.95+ is not using -fno-strict-aliasing flag under 2.95 to compile kernel and similiar code results in broken stuff.. which top-level kernel makefile (at least) seems to use automatically, if required..
Song is "Saga Begins", by Wierd Al, on his newest album (Running with scissors). Other good songs from that cd, if you like that song and Wierd Al's style, are:
1) Pretty fly for a rabbi (parody of offspring, pretty fly for a white guy)
2) Jerry Springer (Parody, one week by barenaked ladies)
3) Grapefruit Diet (parody of zuit suit roit, forget the artist)
4) Your Horoscope for today (Wierd Al original)
5) Albuquerque (Original)
Those are the top 6, imho, thou the whole cd is good... of course, I am a fan..:)

Wish I could be at the expo... only two hours away.. but have to work mid-week... sigh...
Anyone isolated cases/hardware where the fs bug seems to happen? I run several linux machines for personal testing/general productivity, and I've never had a fs problem.... typing this on a 2.2.10 system that's doing fine in it's file system. Is it on some scsi drives/controllers, odd ide timings (mb has via82c586 chipset, option enabled, no problems) raid controllers? Basically, any common elements to the fs corruption?
BTW, rest of the boxes just have generic ide... no special chipset support... no scsi cause ide has never been too slow yet.. always too many other things going in the the background I call life...
Anyone know how backward compatible gcc 3.0 is gonna be with say, libc5 and 2.0.x? I have systems that haven't been upgraded to glibc2/2.2.x/egcs etc yet... or is 2.7.2.3 still going to be the recommended version for non-cutting edge machines? Well, I got the one I'm talking about, and idiot logitech said "Sorry, we can't help you." Idiots.
Long answer: To address your compatibility question, I had a ps/2 mouse (ms wheelmouse) and regular keyboard. Put the batteries in the mouse/keyboard of the one I linked to above, and plugged in the reciever (both ps/2 connectors, but adaptors included to go to larger keyboard plug or serial mouse). Worked fine, no reconfig required at all. I expect most cordless would be as easy... standard ps/2 stuff functionally except for things like battery status, extras type stuff.

and seeing as i sometimes have so much clutter I don't even know where my desk is, i'd bet the only way I'll know the batteries are dead will be keyboard not working anymore...:)
I've got a friend who might agree with this guy... he collects vinyl and dats and whatever else he can get his hands on... matter of fact, he has my record player.:) But he also uses mp3's, I assume because they're convient for him. But it proves you can have it both ways, imho.
Okay, we've got at least two really good 3d accelerators here, or coming in the near future. So do I get a TNT2 or a G400?:)
