When I went to E3 two years ago, getting money out of my Canadian bank account was as easy as walking up to the nearest ATM.

It came out in American funds, and got converted on my statement. It was great! It beats the heck out of waiting in line at the bank before a trip just to exchange some currency, like in the "old" days :)

Canadian banks are also ringing in profits in the billions for the last couple of years. No problems with our banks here. And loan interest rates are great too. But not that hot from an investment perspective.

    Well, I don't like religion.

So they need to remove all religion based programming from the air because it may pollute my kid and my nieces and nephews with this "jesus" garbage.

But wait, it's a free country where a religious group can broadcast their message. And if I don't like it, I can change the channel, block the channel etc.

Did you know your TV has features to block shows that contain nudity, violence, or offensive language?

How about locking out the TV completely unless you're around.

As said before, the TV is not a baby sitter. We are under no obligation to sit back and have our thoughts and actions censored by you because you don't like it.

We played there in 95 or 96, and it was just some solo and team "deathmatch".

Chess sounds like it might be interesting, but the mechanics of the vests and guns, as well as the strolling pace, were big turn-offs.

Has anything been added to the weapons or vests to determine if the sensors are being obstructed?

  9. Re:the annoying "buzz" on Modding Laser Tag Gear? · · Score: 1

    I like that idea.

Adding a heavy duty rumble pack to the weapon and giving it hit points might liven it up a bit too.

The more damage the weapon takes the worse the rumble gets, making it harder to aim, until the weapon finally gives out.

Still, there needs to be a way to prevent sensor blocking.

It's hard to get the adrenaline rush of a fight/flight response when your body is expecting a mild vibration.

Get nailed by a paintball in the neck in the first round, and the rest of the matches you play in you'll practically be vibrating on your own from the adrenalin you produce while your body lets you know it doesn't want that to happen again.

The "joke" of it was the whole experience, not just the lack of pain. Can you imagine being dropped into a lager tag arena and being told you can't even walk at a fast pace, or duck to avoid shots? People would also cover the sensor with their hand to avoid hits, similar to the "wipe-off" that some paintballers do to avoid getting booted for being tagged. At least the paint ball leaves a residue the observant can use to catch cheaters.

And biking isn't a combat sport... at least not yet :)

    What a joke.

There's no real incentive not to get shot, besides the lack of points. With paintball you know when you've been hit, because it hurts like hell. Laser Quest's hits resulted in your vest buzzing and your gun not working for a few seconds.

Plus there was no running or ducking in the arena.

Suggestions of wiring eletrodes to the vest to zap players were met with blank stares and hostility. I still think that's the way to go... modify them from "laser tag" to "pain gun tag" :)

And why shouldn't they be able to?

If you don't want your kids to hear "bad words" on TV, then don't drop them in front of it and treat it like a babysitter.

Bad words, violence, educational programming, soap operas. Whatever it is, they should be able to broadcast it, and you should be able to choose if you want to watch it, or if your kids should be able to watch it.

The advertisers will decide which shows get funding anyway.

I would rather watch a well written show with realistic dialog than something as sanitized and inane as Full House. But someone else might want to watch Full House too. Let the viewers decide what they want to see.

While you provide lots of interesting information, and I don't begrudge you the desire to preserve your french culture and heritage, nothing gives you the right to tell someone else what language they must use.

No one should be able to step on your rights for speaking or writing French, but if someone chooses English, Arabic, Hebrew, etc. as their primary method of communication, be it at work or in signs, the government should not be able to restrict the use of that language.

Accepting that Quebec is "different" has nothing to do with basic rights. I don't care if you talk backwards and shave your eyebrows, and put up signs in invisible ink. It's your choice to do so. And denying that choice to others is no better than how the French have been treated in the past.

If the owner of a Chinese grocery moves into my neighborhood and wants to make ALL of his signs Chinese, that is his choice. He may be catering to the needs of recent immigrants who haven't been able to adapt to English. There are many senior citizens who come to Canada and find it very hard to learn the language.

If his choice of language doesn't infringe on MY rights, then the government should butt out. After all, if I took issue with it, I could shop somewhere else.
