Without the continuous unreliability of their earlier server products, many companies would not know to look for viable alternatives, including (but not limited to) the "Open Source" environments.
As defendant #8, this makes me very happy. The EFF will definitely be getting a donation from me very soon. I'd like to take a moment to thank Chris DiBona, everyone at the EFF, the mirror community, Emmett Plant (they get you that new keyboard yet?:), Roblimo, Slashdot, and especially everyone who showed up at the courthouse today. I'd also like to give special thanks to the Slashdot community (that includes you), without a doubt the most supportive and vocal community on the web today.
Earlier, on the advice of legal counsel, I was advised against giving my name while talking to Emmett, but I've come to realize that "duck and run" isn't the most effective course of action when being hit with suits like this. I've taken down my mirror temporarily, and I look forward to putting at back up as soon as I hear something about the decision (I am on the opposite side of the country). It'll be interesting to see how everything pans out this morning.
Here's the nastygram (was sent in MS-Word format, HTMLized [more-or-less] for your pleasure) that I got via email this afternoon. Expect my css-auth mirror to close by midnight tonight. On the advice of legal counsel, I'm not at liberty to discuss matters further.
The *BSD community routinely treats people who go on their channels looking for help, like they're a piece of crap Not unlike that jeff guy on #slashdot on irc.slashnet.org
jeff may yawn alot, but I haven't seen him treat anyone like crap. Most people use IRC as a leisure tool, and if their daily job involves heavy computer use or even providing support, I doubt they'd want to do that on their off-hours as well.
Actually, Sega Rally 2 does.. Imagine the horror I experienced when I popped the disc in and saw this image pop up on the screen.
I managed to crash it too, I popped the disc out while it was at the title screen and it returned me to the main dreamcast menu, and the right half of the screen flashed for like 10 seconds and then it just locked up.
Thanks, Microsoft.

I could have told you it was steamed crabs with Old Bay
As an aside, if you want the best crab cakes you've probably ever tasted, check out Timbuktu Restaurant at 1726 Dorsey Rd. These things are the size of softballs. Amazing. Be prepared to wait though, that place is almost always packed.
In short, I think I'll stick with VMWare. They have a great product, and I have no regrets about supporting them (and other developers who put their necks out to develop for Linux and other open OSes) with my money.
Also, while I think "FreeMWare" is a cute name, it's very close to the "VMWare" name. If the project was, as the author says, being formed before VMWare came into existence, then why emulate VMWare's product name?
The BBS I most frequented became an ISP in mid-1996. Today, I own part of the business, and our old BBS friends are still very active on the Internet. We eventually decommisioned the BBS host (everybody saw it as a legacy system).
One question I have though, is whether everyone thinks BBSes making the jump to the Internet is evolutionary, embrace-and-extend, or a complete paradigm shift on their part.

Search engine envy? Can't disagree with the second result, though..

I've actually been working on an IM client that'll work on top of the IRC protocol. Here's a screenshot from my M$ client.

Here's a link to a company that deals exactly with this kind of technology.

Also, be sure to also check out the newly updated, mostly NSI-less InterNIC Web Site.
Now where have I seen this software before.. .. Oh, right! It's on RealPlayer's list of software updates. RealNetworks strikes out again, eh?
