At a minimum, if you do not provide a government issued ID they police can detain you until they are sure you are who you say you are. You don't get to just tell the cop "I'm George Bush" and expect him to take your word for it.

IF and ONLY if the person in question is thought to have commited a crime, or thought to plan on commiting one. And even then, you'd better come up with enough evidence to support that suspicion.

In this case however, there wasn't even any criminal element involved on his side, worse even, the criminal element was on the *other* side.

(Hopefully without using really hard words, you can understand what I'm saying)

I'll give you a couple instruments:

    Percussion
    Flute
    Violin
    Standing bass
    Trumpet
    Altsax

Now think to yourself what these sound like when played properly, and you'll realize that some of them will simply be drowned out if they're not amplified.

The amplification gives you the ability to make instruments heard that wouldn't in a 'natural environment'. I've done quite a bit of sound work for live gigs, and the first thing you try to figure out is how the accoustics is in relation to the loudest instrument you have. From there, you basically try to balance everything else (generally this ends up being the drumset, and most typically the snare and bassdrum, sometimes it's a spcific type of trumpet)

Here in the Netherlands we can get 20Mb or 24Mb pretty much everywhere (I tried finding the results I saw, but can't :( It stated that over 96% of the population has access to at least a 20Mb pipe), but we definitely are very densely populated.

We're however NOWHERE more densely populated in comparison to any of the really large cities in the US. So my question pretty much still stands. Why is it impossible to get a 20Mb link in NY, or in Washington, or in LA for a reasonable price at reasonable reliability?
