Huh, I thought it was very clear the advanced beings in the end were androids. I recall this being explained quite clearly and detailed how they cloned humans and brought them back to life because they had hoped to rebuild humanity, but the human's died after a single day.
The site is NOT notable, and AFAICT: IS DEAD AS A DOORNAIL since 2002!

How many tens of millions of dollars in development hours and PR efforts has this cost them? And for what? To say they are a bit better than Yahoo which is quite literally a zombie?
Once again, Microsoft makes much hyperbole about obtaining dominance, rolls out it's big new weapon of terror, fires it's salvo and calls it a victory when it manages to only barely scratch the armor of it's target.
Well, part of the cost is the *time* involved. It's doubtful a Mars tourist trip would be feasible in even a dozen generation's time. A spinning roulette wheel orbital casino a la Cowboy Bebob would be the best bet. It'd be faster and easier to get to as well as generate artificial gravity, making it easier to keep hold of your cards and chips, and having sex with space hookers... sex in zero-g is not sexy at all.
Yeah, it was radical and new in 2006, before the iPhone came out with a multitouch display. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89sz8ExZndc&feature=player_embedded#at=61
Once again, MS is talking about how bleeding edge they are and showing off half a decade old tech. While that may be radical and cutting edge for MS, it'd be hilarious if it weren't so sad.
Exactly, I use Comcast Business at home as I am self-employed, port 25 is definitely not blocked by comcast business internet services and I've been running SMTP + POP & IMAP services just fine.
Remember in 2005 when Jobs got up and said that with the move to Intel, their users would never be ridiculed for a lag in performance again?
Fast forward to 2010, after waiting and waiting for over half a year after Dell and other manufacturers were coming out with QUAD-CORE i7 laptops, Apple finally rolls out DUAL-CORE i7s in their Macbook pros while they give their iMac line quad-cores, essentially making their PROFESSIONAL LAPTOP line lower powered compared to their commodity consumer line.
This has been the state of affairs FOR ALMOST A YEAR!!!
When will we get our fucking QUAD-CORE i7s in Macbook pros you smug, lying, turtle-neck wearing piece of shit???? Frankly, I'm about to move to Dell Studio 17 and go the Hackintosh route.
Charging 30% of the price of the app you developed with XCode and Objective-C both of which were developed by Next then Apple and which is then sold and promoted by the iTunes Music Store is one thing.
Charging 30% of all the money you make offering subscriber content seems exorbitant and could be argued as being a predatory business practice. Personally, I believe many others will see it this way and we will see this matter in court before too long.
In the end however, I think Apple's alienation of low-margin subscriber services such as Last.fm, Rhapsody and others will only make the Android platform stronger.
"... it is an act of espionage to publish the protected names of American intelligence sources who collaborate with the US military or intelligence community."
I agree with this statement. By all means, pass it as a law and then bring in Samuel L. Jackson sporting an eyepatch to start an agency named after this Bill.
We now face a Molten Salt Nuclear Reactor gap. However Jimmy from Cub Scout Den 561 assures us that our nation's Sugar Crystal Nucleation Reactors are operating at optimal conditions.
Wow, Egypt's "Presidente" should an hero right the fuck now.
The people have spoken, and he's sitting there, firing his cabinet, cutting of all ties to the outside world and has now officially brought whatever international market trade still existed to a standstill.
All so he can cling to whatever notion of power he thinks he still has. The UN should be let in, and allowed to safe-guard the places of government while a democratic election is quickly assembled. There's too much risk at this point of the military just up and saying "fuck it" and having a junta.
Ridley Scott has never been one to go the route of Lucas and Spielberg who constantly rape franchises for the easy trip to the bank. You've got to hand it to the guy for wanting to make films and not cash vehicles. I'm looking forward to this, especially if Noomi Rapace is involved. Check her out in the movies based on the Millenium series.
Uhh yeah... hello +5 INSIGHTFUL ASSHOLE VLC for OSX is still here, just get it from their fucking web page AND NOT the fucking APPSTORE Why are you morons so clueless?
Because of a license INCOMPATIBILITY? You can still download and install VLC player to your OS X Mac OUTSIDE OF THE APPSTORE. Ohh wait... you're an asshole troll here to cause trouble over nothing, carry on.
Sorry, I guess I should have been more clear about what it is I do and make for income.
I make about $300k a year and live 1/4 mile from the Golden Gate Bridge on Federal Land and essentially pay my rent to the US Congress.
I consult and prototype for sparsely funded startups and DO NOT take equity. This brings me in about 300k a year.
I do well in SF and immediately found a niche here in 2001 that I have continued to fill for about 10 years now and quite successfully.
However, seeing the rates these blowhards have been offering falling far short of WHAT I KNOW I should be paid for such a role only makes me more disdainful. I would like to take a FTE position, but the salaries offered vs what I make do in fact make it a losing proposition.
I would however consider any FTE senior architect position offering 180-200k.
My email inbox in the last 36 hours? 1 on staff recruiter seeking middle-tier + UI Architect FTE 1 Established CEO with some funds from VC interests seeking my middle-tier + UI architect services
Both of these soliciting me, no prior contact.
Who will I most likely take? The Established CEO It's what I do.
Dunno man. I get unsolicited offers all the time. HIGH offers seem to be about 140k.
I make about 300k contracting on my own to startups. I enjoy that, do well at it and to take less than say 180k to do in-house FTE what I do as a gun for hire seems like a losing proposition.
I dont apply at companies. Companies approach me. I do consulting and have no shortage of clients (I am no temp worker -- direct to client only, no manager or agent)
The fact that I pull in about 300k a year as an independent is a hurdle to me wanting to take a FTE position. However, I would consider 180-200k a year quite strongly. The best offer in the Bay Area so far? $160k.
No, actually I've had over the years 3 devs each call me well after I've left, via my contact info in the DOCS and let me know how much they APPRECIATE my very well thought out and easy to understand way of doing things.
Who's ever called you out of the blue to compliment you in such a manner?
I love Seattle, I used to live there. I was a DJ at some gothy clubs and lived on Cap Hill right across from the Funeral Home and Bauhaus Cafe. But I make well over 200k in SF and I left Seattle to have that.
I do OSS Development for webdev, there's some, but not a lot of that in Seattle. But maybe I should put my resume up there. I have a lot to come back to and much (10yrs arch/dev) experience that I did not have before. Besides, a lot can change in 10 years.
I know that from life... I've turned my back on about all my club friends in Seattle who looked me up on FB.
Maybe I need to leave the Bay Area. I'm most definitely senior level and I'm constantly offered architecture positions, but seems most want to pay $125k (hahahahaha), which I consider LOW (and it is) for that sort of work on a FT basis, so I stick to contracting. It seems the Bay Area pays lower because there's more supply of IT professionals here, driving down the price. This article makes me consider wanting to scout for other areas where there's growing demand, but less of a talent pool to draw from. I know I sure wouldn't miss living in SF, talk about a den of over-educated idiots. It's ok if you're into political correctness to the point of religion and "progressive liberalism" to the point where it's an environmentally-friendly form of fascism. So yeah I'd be happy to leave.

True, we don't have the money.
We should leave Mars exploration and colonization to China.

We all know that after 9/11, there's no such thing as innocent travelers.
The terrorists won, common sense and freedom were lost.

It seems that after infiltrating the molecular structure, the rogue atom saps the sentries before heading to the Intel Room to steal the briefcase.

No, it's that on my own, I make well over 200k CA$H and that to take a job, I'd make far far less, and for what?
Medical + Dental + 401k and stock OPTIONS?
I'd have to move out of where I live and adopt a much more frugal lifestyle.
WHY?
So I just keep on doing what I do best. Consult start-ups, take only cash and little or no equity. It's a treadmill, but one I can live with.
I love Seattle, I used to live there. I was a DJ at some gothy clubs and lived on Cap Hill right across from the Funeral Home and Bauhaus Cafe. But I make well over 200k in SF and I left Seattle to have that.
