Actually to be honest, I've taken to calling it the "wastelands". If there is something I want, its google first. Bittorrent second. Kazaa-lite third. If all that fails, then its IRC. Usually if I get to that point, I'd rather give up before treking through that sludge.
Reports are in that Billy Mathews's, age 12, mother is blocking access to certain sites she deems inapropriate. "He was really into this Slashdot thing where they show pictures of a grown man's (deleted) being spread open. And don't forget that porn... it'll make him go blind." she was reported as saying.
Billy was unavailable for comment but his press secretary released this statement: "Thats fine, when I'm 18 I'm so gonna look at all the porn I want. Until then I'll just use anonymous proxies. lol!!!!!111 omg wtf shes coming in my room... [end of signal]".
No no, you got it all wrong. The thing that looked like pong really was the guidance program. The first paddle was earth, the second was the moon and the little dot was the capsule.
you see, I come from a time in the nineteen hundred and seventies when computers where used for two things too either go to the moon or play pong and nothing inbetween, you see and You didn't need a fancy operating system to play pong and the men who went to the moon, god bless them did it with no mouse and a plain text only black and white screen and thiry-two kilobytes of ram
Beyond that, this guy is lucky its christmas because with multiple 4-9 meg pdf files it would be a silent night for his server.

I have Yellow Dog 2.3 on a Mac Performa 6360. It would run for months without so much as a hiccup. Hell you'd forget it was even there (it was doing all the routing). Only reason it didn't have yearly uptimes is power outages.
Hell they've been doing this since the early 90s. I still have a copy of NHL 94 for Sega CD laying around some place. Only difference is the graphics and the stats for the real players.
Notes for Linux is in development is quite usable as of now. Hell I used to dual boot a RedHat box and run Notes 4.5 through Wine on IBM campus. Notes isn't the issue.
But yeah, I'd love to get a linux box here at work. They stuck me on a Windows XP machine:-/...
I could build a computer with the specs of an Xbox for less-than $150.
No you can't unless you get some serious bulk discounts and can dictate to some manufactorer exactly how to build the motherboard.
Think about it. 700mhz Celeron/PIII hybrid. You can get a MoBo with onboard network, audio, usb, etc no problem. You can probably do the above for maybe 50-60 bucks. Don't forget to throw in 64 meg of ram or so.
However the video is whats going to get you. You need a very strong video card with TV out. Maybe an Nvidia 5200 with Tv out? That'll run you another 50 or so. Now lets talk a case, power supply, harddrive, dvd-drive, etc.
You can probably do it for $200, but not $150. And even then the system you build for that price is not going to even compare to the Xbox in terms of playability and graphics quality.
Personally I hate the Xbox, but I'll give MS their due on this. Its very very unlikely they can drop the price of it much further and is possible that they are selling at a loss. Hell, even if they are making $5 an xbox what about research and development cost? What about marketing, etc?
I actually am IBM Help Desk. All of my co-workers use Firefox.
Just because the default image (XP or 2000) doesn't include it, doesn't mean we don't on our own.
Hmm... computer is an IBM Netvista. Thats pretty much expected.
Now for the OS... Windows XP Professional. Damnit.

What country or countries is mog a word for cat?
Certainly not the US (the home of slashdot). The parent was referencing the movie "Space Balls".
I thought that said "Microsoft acquires spyware company" at which point my coworker responded "Makes sense, they try to integrate everything else".

I don't recall UPS or FedEx drivers getting million dollar endorsment contracts either.
