"A lot of people complain that DRM is what forces people to pirate games but as PoP PC has no DRM we`ll see how truthful people actually are. Not very, I imagine."
Here's my take. This is a marketing ploy. He flat out states that he thinks people are not truthful and that they're going to pirate the game, DRM or no. My guess is that he's betting on the indignation of gamers actually buying the game, not for the game itself but as a symbolic purchase against DRM.
Of course it could all blow up in his face if the game sucks. Gamers hate DRM, but they hate a bad game just as much, if not more.
A piracy statistic suggests that they're not getting paid for their hard work.
...or that they may be overcharging for it. I've enjoyed my fair share of pirated games and most seem to fall into the category of something I'd buy if it were cheaper.
Some titles I'm more than willing to pay full price for.. and I do pay for them. However a good majority fall into the, 'it's just not worth it' category.
Now I understand, that a studio needs a return on it's investment, but if it's a choice between overpaying, or piracy.. I'll go piracy.
Give me a reasonable payment option and I along with many others would likely take it.
Granted it may not make the studio the profit they were looking for, but it might be enough to keep it afloat and working (and improving) on a next title.
Why would they take part in a scam? What would just about all major scientific organizations and a vast majority of individual scientists involved in climate research have to gain by putting their reputations on the line in order to "take advantage of Gaia-worship and gullible fools"? What would they have to gain from it?
Great book of Gaia worship: Earthpage 10:23: and those scientists who take of the cause of the great Gaia and torment thine gullible fools shall finally be granted the ability to bear children and grow fruit from thine earthly nipples. So it is written.
Isn't it more than a bit arrogant and unrealistic to think the US is the only country with these technologies? I mean, I know many Americans like to believe the US invented absolutely everything and are ahead of everyone else technologically, but in fact they really didn't and aren't.
No one is thinking that the US is the only country with or capable of these technologies, however, there must be some semblance of control over what goes where and to whom. The story simply states that there has been a large spike in illegal exporting of technologies in the past few years.
Once the world economy tanks and Russia is forced to abandon free software in favor of 'for profit' OS's, then we can breathe a sigh of relief that those who came up with the OS are getting their rightful compensation for IP rights!
It seems to make sense to me, conservatives in my view have always been about protecting and preserving the America's physical assets and wealth, where as liberals conversely tend to put ideals above the nation's power and prosperity.
and just for the record in case it matters to anyone. I tend to view myself a somewhat left leaning moderate.
I'm wondering if the same people who are supporting this would have issue if oh say, a school required a child to participate in a class that uses Grand Theft Auto as a learning tool with a curriculum by a gangster rapper?
It's not about the video game (no one had/has issue with kids playing AA on their own time), it's about the teaching of ideology.
Then embrace sheer joy in the starting zone with interesting game play, a good storyline and the pleasant experience of phasing.
Then set foot into Outland, feel your heart sink as you realize that you and thousands of others exactly like you have to do the grind to 70 in same content you've been playing for the last year, while all your friends tell you how great Northrend is.
The UN fails because of this: It's a cooperative institution with member countries who can't let go of their paranoid and competative natures. Granted not without some very serious justification, but the UN was created so that nations could cooperate, in a time when cooperation was necessary for survival.
In todays world we've gone in the complete opposite direction, we're all cooperation on the surface and competators underneath and it just doesn't work that way.
Usually it's conservatives who argue for the free market to sort things out, and liberals want increased regulation.
Unless a large corporation is going under, then it seems that the conservatives throw away their free market ideals and the liberals call for laissez-faire!
She can easily say that people SHOULD abstain before marriage, to set that out as a goal - but be understanding that the reality is many will not, and helping them anyway.
Wait.. isn't that the whole argument FOR birth control and sex education in schools?!
"Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."
Interesting.. I hope she's open to exposing students to the theories that God does not exist as well.
I'm serious, if she wants to put creationism (excuse me.. I.D.) into the school debate, then I want it shown to students that the existence of God needs to be debated in a serious and thoughtful and ***OPEN MINDED*** manner as well.
..as long as movies, television and broadcast and purchased music all carry the very same warning.
Anyone who has experienced a child after watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will attest to this.

The anti-matter, also known as positrons, shoots out of the target in a cone-shaped plasma 'jet.'
Apparently, it seems I can create anti-matter from eating too much TacoBell.

Ok, so I still need to master it, but still.

Maybe they're trying to have a future quantum computer send its manufacturing information back to the present so it can be created.

I'm sorry.. Really, I am. If I've wounded you in some deep emotional way please accept my heartfelt apology...
Yes.. you're very smart. You have a firm grasp situations and everyone likes you.
Thank you. I look forward to your next response.
So you did understand what I meant.. that's all I wanted.
..you didn't answer the question, unsuprisingly. oh well.. onward.
...but you DID understand what the meaning was.. didn't you.
thought so.

Certainly a very busy man.
I work on programming and enhancing strategic investment platforms for both fixed income securities and equities.
So yes, you can be both a Vice President and a member of IT. I've even been a Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in the past.
Did you by chance happen to stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
