Reminds me of Windows link repairer, automatically searching for the nearest file size, which was almost always the wrong thing to do, then suggesting grampa accept the new pointer.
IIRC, if the entire universe were crammed to neutron star density with computer processing, it still couldn't touch a perfect game in the entire life of the universe.
From a higher level, metadata, who calls whom, and when, would have been used to round up the Founding Fathers. Had they still managed to be successful, they would have forbidden that to government without warrant.
Played original Quake online. After a month downloaded capture the flag mod. I saw a guy on my team running through the no man's land back to my castle on those tiny fields, night time, flag glowing and waving behind him. I had one of 4 epiphanel moments of my life, and knew -- all games through human history had been leading up to his moment: online, team-based games with a goal.
I was up from 8 AM thru 11 PM of the next day , 39 hours straight, before I literally fell asleep at the keyboard standing in water somewhere.
As long as the hardware isn't too expensive it's often already in the car. Cruise control and steering wheel controls are in the car -- they just need to pop the plate or put on a deluxe stalk. These "heater elements put into all seats" would simply be another cost savings measure vs. manufacturing efficiency.
I can't imagine renting, so to speak, butt heaters only during winter could possibly be cheaper. It soulds more like a mathematical cover story for a quasi-loan where they simply charge poorer people a lot more over the long run because they can't afford the option up front.

Code Is Not Literature

Good code is never nearly as self-documenting as people think. I have re-written stuff just giving variables and functions more accurate names, and you still should have comments saying what is going on and why.
Nerds aren't openly hostile to anyone. They are very trusting and revel in the joy of figuring things out. It's the rest of you fighting and backstabbing and lying to each other, instead reveling in social manipulation skills.
"Hal was told to lie...by people for whom lying is second nature."
I've got news for you -- politics is religion. It's memes spreading to assemble large groups of people so you can dictate, in detail, everybody's life, especially those of a different "religion".
It's just been stripped of appeals to god, evidently an unnecessary part of it.
As with religion over millenia, freedom from the dominant form is treated as an evil. Freedm from control using religion as argument is sadly just a brief window until controlling memes readjust and adapt and resume business as usual. Yes, this means u, fine reader.
I ragequit Eve after losing two tier 3 battleships to being ganked. They cost about $15 each, roughly what a single Plex (1-month subscription) sold for on the auction house.
I'M FUCKING DONE, DONE DO YOU HEAR? FUKUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Where's that anti-rage headset? It should be named anti-gamer-and-posting-rage headset.
Every Ask Slashdot gets a comment pointing out that it's the dumbest Ask Slashdot ever, I know.
This time, it's really, really the case.
Hey, that would make a great Ask Slashdot question! Unless it ends up being self-referential, in which case it's stupid, but because it's the most stupid, it's fascinating, making it not stupid, making it not the case, making it eligible for stupidest again, error, error, must sterilize, must sterilize.
That was my first guess -- something deep inside a GPU, cloned across hundreds of millions of computers and consoles, cranking out quadrillions or quintillions of triangles a second.
Volokh Consipracy is awesome. There's plenty of kibitzing in the comments section (personal attacks and snide commentary that would get -1'd here) but they track (and participate in, as with OP) a lot of legal decisions with constitutional impact.
Does any researcher really think their generalizations capture that which they cannot imagine?
If a dog researcher analyzed humans, he'd be like, "and we see the human goes over here and waves his hands and light suddenly appears in the night. That's all there is to it, I've watched him do it a hundred times."
I'll never forget the Nova special on PBS about 10 years ago, "Welcome to Nashville, a city waiting to die."
Seems that area, not California, is the site of the most powerful earthquake in recorded history. And with building codes nothing like California.

So it's basically a concierge, which has existed for thousands of years?
Good job, patent office.

Correct. Government self-justifies increased power for itself. Nothing new here for millenia. Move along, folks.
The course of action is to vote these people out at the next election. Let the ones even who stand silently by be afraid.

It's really that damned simple, people.
Makes me think of Soylent Green.
Thank you, Chris Griffen.
Still, this is a proof-by-model, i.e. not a proof. Proof is flying planes off the US coast and measuring pollution as 1/4 as dense as in California.
Apparently it is better to curse the darkness, whining to politicians, than light a candlestick.
Yeah, your 3.14 inches.

Lie! There aren't even 70,000 people who have successfully registered yet.

That's not true -- most of the nerds involved have type II diabetes.

And now, the punch line.
I wonder what kind of porn you can buy with doge coins?
