  2. No, you are misusing the word "reasonable" in this context.

    The First and Second amendments are absolutist in their proscription of congressional action. The "reasonable" value judgement was made by supermajorties of The People (and their elected representatives).

    It is not for future generations to rub their chins and decide some new limitation may be cavalierly added. If The People want it, they can go through the deliberately difficult process of supermajority changes to it to grant the government power to limit speech, or arms.

    Your flaw in thinking is that a simple majority (and a transient one from the latest political road rage) is sufficient to do this. Except that is exactly what this constitutional design was created to put the brakes on.

    If it is such a great idea, most will agree, not merely a simple majority, and will do so years from now, too, and not just now when heads are hot.

    Now, when heads are hot, is how stupid societies in ancient times (Rome, Greece) and more modern times (1930s Germany, and Venezuela right now) grant "temporary" emergency powers to the leader, who never gives it up.

    Except "Doctor" meant fearsome, deadly warmaker in many
    species because of word drift based on results of fighting him. "The Doctor" was the guy who will kick your ass.

    Much of the world would love for the US to throw its weight around more, to coerce dictatorships and corrupt nations to clean up their acts instead of just twisting the arm of dictatorships to be friendly to US interests.

    I've been complaining for several years now that our spyware, used for terrorism and mundane criminality, i.e. small things, will be used or cloned by despots to keep billions around the world down.

  24. Splitting it in two will also allow it to exist after the end of BBOTT 2. If BBOTT 2 doesn't happen, then pushing it to September puts part 1 after BB 19 is over as well.

    In either case, I won't pay for CBS All Access without BB. One 24 hour a day show I will, one hour a week, nope.

    There is nothing besides BB I would watch for free, much less pay for. I know this from experience of having All Access for BB in other years.

    The government acknowledged the band was using it in a positive way. They maintained, though, that some Asians would find it offensive anyway.

    The SC rejected all such reasons as being relevant. Indeed, it is the offensive things that are most in need of First Amendment protection.

    This case is one of several in recent years rejecting "It is a special program created by Congress to bring financial benefits, and therefore Congress may restrict speech in it as a requirement for citizens to take advantage."

    The People take their freedom of speech with them wherever they go. This is quite enheartening.
