Uh because lots of things are written in it and making life difficult by making people rewrite their apps isn't exactly gonna speed up the adoption of Linux. I agree that in a perfect world apps writers would create decent, easily portable code, but having worked in far too many cruddy IT departments, most programmers don't have time to worry about whether their business apps are portable.
The users don't really count unless they're senior management. I've just left a place where they were still using Win 95 and no amount of bitching from us mere users would get them to change to something decent. If the company mandated Firefox then that's what the users would have on their desktops.
It's scary to me because although there's plenty of work for my skills I can't get a job because I can't compete with Indian programmers. I have to start again at the bottom and it's quite difficult and depressing to be here at 33.
I'm lucky though in that I'm single and don't have a mortgage. How a family would cope with this I don't know.
All the wealthy economies were built on the majority of people having well-paying secure jobs. Why throw that away in the pursuit of short-term profits.
Helping defend us. We provided troops in West Germany too you ignorant moron. As for the bloody Marshall Plan, well it would've been a bit fucking stupid for the US to let it's major trading partners collapse into depression now wouldn't it. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for what your ancestors did for my ancestors, but you can't expect us to kiss your collective ass for all eternity, especially when you're wrong.
Since any climate change will cost US business well-deserved profits that they have a god-given RIGHT to, any talk of climate change will be ridiculed as the work of scaremongering hippies. Of course your dollars will be a bit soggy when the sea levels rise but at least you'll be rich.
What do you mean racist against Indians? You mean being totally evil because you resent your salary dropping by three-quarters due to unfair competition from third-world programmers?
Yes, Windows is so easy to use that there are literally hundreds of books and magazines devoted to how to use it. You think that sort of thing couldn't be done for Linux?
If you use a computer you are 95% likely to be using some version of Windows. Microsoft have repeatedly misused this position in order to prevent any real competition from emerging.
Think what you like but these are people. Chucking them on the scraphead to save money in the short-term leads to problems in the medium to long-term.
I disagreed with the license fee until I saw Australian and US TV.

In this case the OS is irrelevant. EDS are very good at screwing things up by making promises they can't deliver on and then rushing things in.
Surely that's the Microsoft development model

What is the success rate for startups again? It's not really a viable option compared to having a secure job.
Can Nike afford to pay $100 US a day for employee in US, hell no.
Yes they can they're a multi-million dollar corporation.
Re-architect? What the heck does this mean. Redesign? If it does then why not say redesign? Stupid marketing newspeak.
This link seems to suggest otherwise.
Depends. Unethical corporations are more open to a boycott.

Except it's run from Brussels not Rome. You've read too many Omen books.
Wow. Some people are just scary.
I always knew there were a lot of wichsers at MS

If only I had mod points.....

Yep Im refusing to buy any more of his books because, lets face it 10 books so far and no sign of an ending.
In related news a government enforces its laws. Yours might learn from that.
Surely it should be XP Rebooted.

Open up the rpm in Konqueror and click on it. Is that more difficult than Windows?
