On a computer, where one uses numbers frequently... especially a phone-type device which involves dates.... hitting the fn button all the time is silly!
The software automatically switches to the number mode for the fields where it makes sense (of course, developers have to take care about marking up such fields), and pressing Fn twice on an N810 gives you a number mode lock. It's only tough when a cruel sysadmin provides you with a randomly generated 16-character alphanumeric password:)
Funny that FBreader is an ugly duckling on this platform, it looks pathetic and does not integrate into the normal file opening facility, using a butt-ugly leftover dialog from a dusty corner of Gtk+ instead. But my wife does not seem to mind, as she reads books on the N800 all the time.
Well, I'd say Palm was destroyed by inability to move past the horribly outdated 16-bit runtime platform that fell victim of its own initial success. The rest of your comment is spot on.
Netbeans uses the standard ant build files for its project files, Eclipse uses its own project format. It can use ant too.
Netbeans appears to be more supported by Sun than Eclipse is. No shit, Sherlock:)
Since the time you're referring to, Russia is supposed to have made a swing back to a hydrocarbon-rich power with a booming economy. I wonder how much does a Tu-95 long-range patrol cost?
they're devoting about 35 of their developers in China to OOo; and they'll be contributing accessibility code from Lotus Notes to improve current support for assistive technologies.
Am I the only one unsure if this is good news or not?
Yesterday, I surfed the net from a tram. Every Wi-Fi equipped tram here has its own webpage with a dynamically updating list of upcoming stops with ETA, and a location map.
Yeah, right. The problem is, the most successful societies in this world do not seem to be built by and for strongmen packing shotguns. Did you ever wonder why did American Wild West (essentially that era's version of a budding third world country) cease to exist?
Sputnik seemed like a big deal at the time, but in retrospect it looks like a very tiny stunt compared to the panic it induced.
The payload may seem tiny and trivial, but the R-7 that put it in orbit was not. More difficult thing was to provide those spectacular breakthroughs AND quality of life improvements for the ordinary people...
That's interesting. To me, LiveJournal is Russians and little else. The share of Russians there is disproportionally large. There is such a pulling effect when just about everyone interesting and speaking the language posts in LiveJournal. My friend list has mag editors, media pundits and prominent public figures. As a result, LJ is the place to come for all the latest buzz in Russian.
Many of the APIs were complex, inconsistent, and downright arcane, forcing the developer to take care of a lot of detail. In contrast, the simplicity of component models, such as EJB, made programming a lot simpler
Wow. If EJB (pre-3.0) is simple in comparison, no wonder CORBA never really took off.

Too bad I'd have to hire a boat to go to a desolate point in the Pacific thousands miles from any shore in order to make such a sandwich.
If all you need is to copy pictures, the phone is probably able to present itself as a mass storage device via USB or Bluetooth, as mine does. Many phones also have SyncML support at least declared, so you may try OpenSync at them.
in contrast to the Russian myths that the Cyrillic alphabet was first introduced in Russia and even invented in Russia
I'm from Russia and I'm unaware of anyone who would spread such myths.
To the contrary, there's much reverence to Cyril and Methodius.
Why, it's quite common for Russian laymen to use 'j' for '', especially when preceded by '' which gets 'y'.
:)
Another outsourcing job masterfully performed by the Russian Business Network?

Subversive seems to be still in incubation. I use Subclipse daily and cannot find fault with latest versions.
Now, if anybody could point me to a git or darcs plugin...
so.sue.me, anyone?

Well, on this nice green Earth here, we drink each others urine too. Only the cycle is a bit bigger and involves a lot more side material.
Putting even small things in orbit was innovative for the time.

Please enlighten as to what PcSuite is and why is it a defining point in Nokia's support for Linux.
They discuss whether they evolved their language or were intelligently designed to do so.
GNOME is steering away from CORBA, to the point of rewiring their next major release for D-BUS. I believe this includes Bonobo.
