Great point. In fact, I, as a scientist, atheist and wholehearted believer in evolution, realized some years ago that I myself had never, in fact, read Origin of Species.

When I finally read the book, I was hugely surprised by its contents. It was certainly not what I expected, and I would invite anyone, creationist, evolutionist, and anyone in between, to read the book to make sure we are all arguing about the same thing.

  3. if the first movie is any indication.... on Hitchhikers Guide Movie Might Become a Trilogy · · Score: 2, Interesting

I saw the Hitchhiker's Guide movie this past friday. I enjoyed it, and here's why.... You know how geeks like us walk around making jokes that refer to hitchhiker's guide, monty python, blazing saddles, etc? Well, that's what the movie felt like: two hours of references to the book.

So, yeah, I enjoyed it... but did the movie have any purpose? Did it enhance the experience of the book? No, I don't think so. And I truly feel sorry for the people who see the movie without having read the book first. What a pointless excersize that would be.

Do yourself a favor -- go read all the books and don't worry about the movie(s).

Seriously. Star Wars and empire were so great... so much a part of my youth, that I overlooked the poor showing on return of the jedi and anxiously anticipated the premiere of Episode 1 for YEARS. I vowed not to see another movie in a theater until it came out. Finally, on the day that it did come out it was like getting kicked in the balls. I felt so betrayed... so... insulted. I was very angry. Within an hour, my lifelong love of the Star Wars saga was GONE. I had no further desire to see any more of lucas' crap. I have not seen the second movie. Heck I'm not sure what the name of it is, though I guess it's probably about the clone wars. Frankly I'm not sure why I'm reading this thread. No one is going to trick me into going to the theater to watch this crap. Rant over, sorry.

Do you have all the facts? Were you there watching him do it? At best you have a copy of the indictment which lists specifics such as auctions that the stuff was sold at, which looks damning... but you have not given any thought to the fact that you have only a bare smattering of the facts.

And what is really infuriating is that your judgemental tendency is reflective of a sickening trend within american culture. Everyone is way too quick to judge without all the facts and no one can tolerate any sort of mistake.

I know this is somewhat un-PC and off topic... but you know the words "developmentally delayed" mean exactly the same thing as the word "retarded"

Why don't you pick a different word or just use "retarded" rather than fishing around to find a new PC word every six months.
