I support the use of calculators for complex operations as long as you know how to do it for smaller operations. You should be able to do 40339 * 49392 without a calculator, but it would not be evil to after you already know how to do it.

Spell checkers are not bad if they do not have to rely on them.

Same with the net sources, must be a 'reliable' source.

One thing that wasn't mentioned - contractions weren't allowed at one point, but now they most definately are.

I do not think that netspeak should be allowed in assignments, but like it or not they will probably get into the language just like contractions have.

Logic is certainly on his side. Severity of crime is a matter of society thought not necessarily logic. It may be perfectly acceptable (read: not severe) for me to kill my sister if she dishonours the family. Its up to society to decide that. And in some societies it is perfectly acceptable (or at least they wouldn't do anything about it). In ours, it isn't.

If we were to put it on an unhappiness as a way of deming punishment it is less in the society arena as it is in the logical. If somebody affects a lot of people then it logically would be more severe than if it affected only 1 person.

I was trying to fix an RJ31X connection (for a house alarm) after messing with it (DSL, and filters...) and I shocked myself a few times... not on the tongue mind you.

BTW... does anyone know why an alarm would cut out the line (putting the % from 100 to 0 on the telephone guy's meter on the outside of the house) every few seconds? It didn't affect the voice communication, but we think that is what screwed up the DSL we used to have. Is that normal for an alarm, is there a way to bypass that or anything?
