Right, just a shorter shelf life than usual. Doubtless they've developed a card with a better price/performance ratio, and the people who just bought the "top of the line," will be pissed that they shelled out all that cash. Fortunately, 20 years ago today, a sucker was born to replace the now disillusioned (and broke) early adopter.
That's odd, when I clicked the "latest rumors" link, I noticed this:
CoolTechZone.com has the latest information from NVIDIA regarding the company's plans to discontinue its top of the line graphics card, the 7800GTX 512MB.
Notice how the author acknowledges that "[NVIDIA] plans to discontinue its top of the line graphics card, the 7800GTX 512MB."
So, yeah. That's what he meant by "stand alone." The other team forfeited.
That may be true, but none of those points apply to the R1 at all. It does take very high quality pictures, but also costs a lot of pence and doesn't take videos.
Except you're confusing active participation with passive observation. Further, inattention does not nessecarily involve wandering off. A wandering mind is much more difficult to spot, especially in circumstances where a lack of response is typical, such as watching TV, reading, listening to a lecture, etc. Some people have difficulty paying attention to things, even when they deliberately try to focus on the subject, even when they are interested in the subject. Disinterest obviously exacerbates the problem.
And what the hell was with Aeon wearing an all white jump suit when she was trying to break in to the surveillance center at night?
Yeah, I was wondering that too. I think we (the audience) are supposed to presume that it was to blend in with the not-very-white roof. But if you can swallow the idea of poison-dart fruit and razorblade grass, a white jumpsuit doesn't seem all that far fetched.
Except the premise of the AF movie was explained up front and didn't really catch you off guard, unless the idea of cloning people particularly bothers you. To people who aren't shocked by things like people wearing white after Labor Day, it came off as just another weak "clones are teh devil part v," uh.. clone.
I think it's a good film for its target audience, which is the same target audience the series had: People who watch MTV.
Well the cold cathode is in case there's a plastic case to protect it and prevent the light from exploding. But if your bulbs are encased, you should be fine.. or unfine if your arch villian has anything to say about it.

The report found that owner data for 5.14% of the domains it looked at was clearly fake as it used phone numbers such as (999) 999-9999; listed nonsense addresses such as 'asdasdasd' or used invalid zip codes such as 'XXXXX'. In a further 3.65% of domain owner records data was missing or incomplete in one or more fields."...and that's only the idiots who used obviously false information.
Seriously, back when I had a website I used fake information. Why would I want my personal information available to anyone who sees the site? Why would anyone, other than a business? I shouldn't have to worry about harrassing phone calls or visits just because I choose to put something controversial on my site. Or conversely, I shouldn't have to worry about someone searching a whois database for my name to find out what sites I have.
The difference is apparently quite striking with the average IQ difference between those that had the gene and those that didn't being marked at 20 approximately 20 points.
Anyway, if you didn't, the main character has some sort of abnormality where his brain doesn't sufficiently filter noise, therefore he notices everything. I forget what they called the syndrome, and I never bothered to check if it really exists. It sounds plausible, but then again so does digging to the center of the Earth when you don't understand the magnitude of the operation.
Ah, yeah. After re-reading, I'm not at all sure how I managed to get the exact opposite meaning out of your post. I think I just saw the tirade of anti-Marquette posts and must have skimmed your post out of context.
Whether or not you agree with all their points isn't always the largest concern. You can disagree with someone idealistically, but to decline their assistance in one area because of ideology is foolish if you actually want to win. The enemy of your enemy is your friend.
Yeah, but do they run Linux?

I'm not sure what's wrong with the mods, beer, but I still love you.
This camera could give me free beer (as in FREE BEER! WOO!) and I still wouldn't buy it
If by "still wouldn't buy it," you mean "would buy one for sure," then I'm with you 100%.

Better invest in a Hummer.
Yeah.. nothing feels better after getting the crap kicked out of you. Oh wait, you meant the SUV...

Exactly. The way you tell it, ninjas sound like they'd be able to beat pirates, but only a ninja fanboy would believe that.

I'll chalk up my mistake to the well written summary. :)

Well now we know who doesn't have the IQ gene...

Groklaw might be a good site but it's a terrible name. It sounds like a choking parrot, and the outline of a bird on the page doesn't help any.
