    I'd have to say I share the same philosophy as you. While I have 'hacker' roots and a 'hacker' mindset, that doesn't mean I break into things that aren't mine and break laws. Not to say I couldn't, I just don't care to. Even when I was younger and some of the things I did to learn and experiement may have been questionable, I would have never done it for anyone else, it was all for my personal desire to learn, not a financial motivation.

    Oh no, you are right. I was just implying that it's one less ignorant polititian that isn't in power to help ruin things. The last line applied to the vast majoritiy of ignorant polititians still in power. Nothing is sacred.

    you are right those are all lifestyle choices, but the original poster implied that he was detached due to money and not having to "earn a living". I think he would live that way regardless of the money he makes.

    You act like he's living the high life or something, he speaks that way because that is what he truly believes in. He supports himself with awards, speaker fees, but guess what, if he didn't take the positions he does he wouldn't win awards and no one would want to hear him speak. Consequently thats how he makes his living.

    I'd have to agree with you, I don't see what advantage using linux over say Cisco IOS would be. Unless he is trying to run linux for the sake of running linux. However this company http://www.synergymicro.com/ Produces a variety of single board computers that address a diverse range of high-end computing needs. Their PowerPC-based multiprocessor boards run embedded Linux. If you are dead set on Linux switching

    Search engines don't index all of the things on porn sites that are for members only i.e. Terabytes of member's only pages, video, and pics. For example sex.com could only have a few pages for the public that Google would show, but in reality they have thousands more. So it would be hard to be accurate at only 1%

    How do you figure FireFox as a 'name brand' and Opera not, last time I checked the Mozilla Foundation was a non-profit organization, and until recently Opera was not free, it was pay-license or ad-supported.

    that most phising sites are designed to circumvent Internet Explorer, since it is the most common internet browser, and practically the only browser for 'clueless' users, especially the ones that would be victims to a phishing site.

    Funny how you assumed I was a male. Regardless, if a females said 'stupid males' no one would have recommended a counselor. Much the same way if a black person says something derogatory about a white person it is funny, but if a white person says something about a black person it's racist. However in retrospect maybe I should have said 'stupid female' because I was only referring to one female, not an entire half of the population.

    That's all well and good, but up to this point, "developers from all over" still haven't been able to put together a product that people will take for free.

    Funny because Apache on Linux is the fasting growing combination of server implementation. It seems that a lot of people 'took it for free'.

    Oh absoultley, from Novell's perspective it is a good deal. But Microsoft isn't exactly known for their good-natured business. If Microsoft throws 350 Million dollars at something, there is more than likely an alterior motive, it isn't just an investment in Linux. Microsoft sees Linux as a problem, and always has, they want it to go away. This hasn't changed.
