So when a student gets a C on an essay to whom does he/she seek redress?
Teachers make mistakes and occasionally mark something negatively that was misread or misunderstood. In those cases the student can talk to the teacher and make a case.
If a computer does the marking though what do they do?
What of all the file sharers who are underage? Is this even legal to ask kids to send photo-id and such to a complete f'ing stranger?
This reaks of lawsuit all over it:-)

Um they already presented their work. I was there I should know. In fact their attack is hardly "news" I was chatting with certain people at the conference and they already knew the details of the attack way before the presentation took place.
Santa Barbara is an awesome btw! I can't wait for CRYPTO'04
80x80 pixels?... quality display?.... must not burst in two laughing...
And how the fuck can they take up the 40MB or so with such a low quality image for 30 mins? I'd think they would be able to cram a good weeks worth of video on it...
Freenet sucks ass. It's slow, almost impossible to connect to anything in a reasonable amount of time and it smells of amateur design true and through.
That and I don't want my computer to be used to house kiddie porn no matter who thinks "free speech reigns supreme". Say what you want but there are standards that people choose to live by.
"{I love using myself for proof, it's so scientific}"
Hehehe, but you do raise a valid point. If we, the programmers cannot really do the task how do we get a computer todo it reliably.
Don't forget that there is more to ID'ing someone than just what they look like. Like speech context has everything todo with it.
You're in the middle of a conversation and one word is muddled. Your brain can quickly come up with probable words in a manner of a few seconds. This is all based on context.
Similarly you catch a glimpse of someone that looks like your co-worker *and* you're at work chances are your brain will make the ID much more faithfully then say you were at a Mets game or something...
Man like all the other stories get like 60 replies, this one cuz its about MSFT automagically [thanks Dave Dunfield] gets 200 replies.
No shit MSFT license policies are intrusive. Is anyone here fucking surprised? Holy fuck what you got your fucking head stuck in a pile of shit for the last 10 years? Wake the fuck up.
I don't drink. However, I am of the philosophy that if you are going todo some work you might as well do it right or not at all.
The manuals should detail the entire application. However, nobody said it had to be a piece of art. like most man pages in *nix userland tools, be terse but complete. If people need more help then you pay.
But just providing
pp. 1 -- Welcome to iProduct. pp. 2 -- Send money to: pp. 3 -- Index [etc... backcover]
isn't very professional.
That being said I don't use MACs so I use every chance I get to say something bad about them. Like "macs suck" and "you suck for liking macs".
Now if I could only figure out why I don't have any friends...
A product which doesn't come with its own manual? Wow that's useful. Now I'll rush out and buy an iDVD [whatever that is] *and* the iNot iIncluded iManual for an additional low price...
Next the manual will be in code and require an iDecoder Ring which will probably violate the iDMCA and cause the end of the iWorld as iWe iKnow iIt.

[yes this is flamebait and yes I hate stupid people who buy incomplete products then rant about how great they are....]
I'd think a bsod would be like having a halo put on your head... lights out everybody!
Though it could make for some interesting multitasking. Look right, tv tuner+xbox running, look right it's moz email, look straight and it's an editor + shell.
Hmm... now all we need is some interface where you "grab" and "pull" files like in that movie, you know, the movie with the guy, always standing, um, the guy!
Man oh man 6 hour break between classes is a bad idea....
Yeah cuz it would be a shame that while the world tries to group together in unity that they form world-wide organizations.
WTO protesters always confuse me. Isn't world-wide trade a good thing? E.g. if you are trading things with a nation chances are you're not pointing a gun at them.
Also as for "screwing the smaller nations" that's 99% subjective and entirely not the fault of a world-trade agreement. Little countries can get screwed just as easily now when their trade status isn't a guarantee as if it were.
Maybe the hippie losers who protest the G8 by spraying grafiti on the public defenders office in Ottawa [building was on my bus route to college] should spend their time actually helping society.
Yeah same here. Actually in my case I seem to be the only one who doesn't get decent cell coverage indoors [v120c]. I take one step outside and boom 3/5 bars.
While I appreciate the lesson from Dan my post was joke originally:-)
For starters, by time I actually started using modems [early 90s] I already missed "the good old days" anyways. Sorry if my comment came off as serious. I'd think people knew me well enough to figure that out.
Hey "new" phones are cool. Like my v120c which often crashes when people send me SMS and cannot properly connect to people with vboxes [which doesn't sound right, I know, but still causes problems....]
