From Filthy Critic's review of "Office Space":

"The jokes are funny and more than half work. They are almost exclusively about office shit: all the stupid fucking memos; all the fakeness; all the bullshit office workers have to put up with. The movie is much funnier than the lame-ass world "Dilbert" and "Cathy" cartoons because it acknowledges the true misery lurking under all those fluorescent lights (if you like Dilbert and/or Cathy, please leave and visit other web sites because you are not welcome here). Dilbert and Cathy joke about offices, but their authors are such pricks that they believe, deep down, we all love our jobs They aren't against office culture, they are for it. That's why Dilbert and Cathy bullshit is always hanging over Goddamned copy machines. And that's why the most annoying asshole in every office is always the biggest "Dilbert" fan."

Wrong. Just because somebody does not know how to build their own computer does not mean they deserve to be bombarded by advertisemets and annoying popups. Just as someone who spends their lives coding in a darkened room does not deserve to be ripped off by an auto mechanic just because said geek doesen't know how to fix his own car. Perhaps if stopped thinking about yourself for a change and started working towards a non AOL/MS future we would all be a little bit better off.

That is most certianly an elitist argument. What about the children who's families don't have enough money to pay their own way through the 6th grade? What kind of nation do you think we'd have if those without enough money were left behind to fend for thenselves without a grammar school education? Not only that, but by giving a child an education you can possibly instill upon them a love for language, arts or even math :) To use your line of reasoning why should you pay the government a proportional amount of your salary to buy weapons to protect the country? Why not just buy your weapons or pave your own patch of road in front of your house? When I was in 7th grade the voters of my town decided not to raise taxes and to instead make budget cuts to the school system. I ended up (due to seniority) having my old art teacher as my new history teacher, and my home economics teacher became my new science teacher (she had a nervous breakdown within a year). I learned absolutly nothing that year and it still pisses me off that the people of my town couldnt see the value of a good education for all. I didn't mean to sound harsh, but can you see the pitfalls in such a self centered way of looking at the world?

I kinda like the idea of VOIP but this prioritizing of packets worries me. First of all I don't really like someone monitoring what I am sending or recieving (yes I have some idea on just how large the packet/manhour inspection ratio is but it still worries me). Second I don't like the idea of telcos bumping up the priority of (what is essentially their) VIOP data transmissions. I need that ping for counterstrike!! :) Perhaps I am way off base so please reply if you have some info that pertains to the above.

Part of this problem stems from the fact that oil producing countries can offer gasoline at very low prices (even the ones who don't refine it thenselves). Add the fact that most of this gas is leaded and you've got a huge pollution problem on your hands. It also doesn't help that traffic in Istanbul makes the LA rush hour look like a fun drive.
