    A strong American military is why Hitler and Stalin didn't wind up ruling the world, and don't forget it.

    Actually, a strong American Economy is what broke the Axis (that and the 10 million Russians who died fighting Hitler). As any RTS player can tell you, once you can build and ship hardware to the front faster then the enemy can sink it, you've already won, it's only a question of time.

    I remember that in kindergarden my whole class had our fingerprints taken. I kind of assumed that was in case we got lost or kidnapped, but would those prints have ever been entered into some kind of national database? Can you even match a 6 yr old's prints with his prints 12+ years later? I'm curious if anyone else had their's taken (ie is this state/fed practice or do just a few communities do it?)

    This is not a case of accidental infringment. This is someone who knowingly aquired and distributed illegal goods.

    This is also somebody who is 12 years old. There is a reason why people under 18 are not held to the same standard as adults.

    She simply didn't want to pay for that which she wanted to possess...regardless of whether she could afford it or not.

    She thought that since her mom gave money to the service she used, she could listen to music off it. Why do you think that poor people are out to steal everything they might not be able to afford?

    The whole concept of "sue 'em all, we think most of them are pirates" is the equivalent of nuking the Middle East as a solution to the Middle East problem.

    That, unfortunately, is not a good analogy to use on Americans. Too many people see to just not give a shit if a few (or even many) people get hurt if it solves someone's problems. Of course they'll do a 180 if it happens to them...

    I've got 6 computers on my LAN going through an external 56k modem hooked up to a linux box. If you're just browsing the web, there's no noticeable speed loss unless 2 people click a link at the same time. Online gaming is a bitch though. Nothing like running into a room and having your ping jump to 4095ms, only to learn 30 seconds later that youre dead. It sucks, but broadband can't be had everywhere yet, so there's still a market for these things.

    Knocking out large nodes will work, assuming that:

    + All large nodes are within US jurisdiction.
    + New nodes are not created
    + ISP's don't destroy records
    + Nobody makes an encrypted P2P app
    + They don't get in legal trouble for wrongfully suing people

    Even if they succeed in killing off all large nodes, they will be left with an exponentially larger number of medium size nodes that no number of lawyers can knock out. Laws won't matter much; every high school student has had drivers-ed teachers tell them how dangerous(and illegal) speeding is, yet I'd guess maybe 10% of the population obeys the limit.

    Let us imagine for a moment what things would be like without public education.
    For one, a lot of children would receive *no* education.


    The reason that there are no cheap, low standard private schools is because the government provides a free alternative. If public schools disappeared, commercially viable schools would emerge to offer education to people of all means.

    On a serious note, the ads with "Warning, your computer is currently broadcasting an Internet IP address!" always made me laugh. That's like "Warning: You house is currently broadcasting a street address!"

    Why not just plug it into the wall, and ramp up the voltage? A Rifle not a pistol, with a long enough barrel and and the power pack with a cable, not to interfere with the weight of the weapon.

    *North/South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. I admit that Iraq(Saddam) used chemical weapons on Kurds and Iran(with US sat. photos). So if you live in Iran you have a legitimat gripe with him.

    I kinda thought they died more recently, but I was just recalling the artical from memory. Still, that would mean that he was in elementary school when they died, and a loss that early probably causes lasting damage (more so then if he was a young adult anyway).
