    Bought 8 years ago, I actually paid for a version of realplayer from best buy that lasted three weeks.

    My only offer from them was to pay a lot more to get the next version, or not to be able to use the version I purchased to view content.

    Frankly, supporting realplayer is dumb.

    We've tested our in house , and outside applications in Vista, but we make sure to put on all new machines a "no vista" tag.

    We are the top leader in our sector of software development in business automation, and are scaling our applications to vista, but have absolutely no intentions of adopting vista in any form for internal use.

    I just finished a book that gave a pretty believable explanation about the advancement to the point where a Human consciousness is dumped into a computer. It's called "The Footprints of God" by Greg Iles.

    It's not a preachy book - so don't let the title stop you, but it did point out a few subtle points about a thought process accelerated, and the implications beyond that.

Hikary - video - my nuts exploded. How much for Utada Hikaru, and when can she be delivered?

    Would the people benefiting from the research be better off if there was no research done at all, and if not, how does one recoup the expense involved?

    Programming, on the other hand, can be done by anybody with a Computer Science or related mathematical degree, usually a two year Associate's degree. India is graduating 50,000 people with this training EVERY YEAR.

    Which is why you need American programmers like me who can actually fix, adapt, upgrade, and expand the sloppy code done by mills churning out the monkeys trying to write Shakespeare.

    Why even have cable? In a month or so - there will be DSL without a landline, and I have my cell.

    Since I don't need to d/l movies I'm pert damn good to go at a fraction of the cost for cable and vonage - and of course - when I run out of gas - I can still call someone. //served...

    I quit watching new shows.

    I'll wait for the season stuff to come out for a few years, before I get into the show. Sci-Fi channel and Fox were particularly bad in Launching GREAT new shows and concepts - only to trash them for something cheaper, or dumb.

    This is a touch-and-go issue as it basically boils down to the user's priority (not seeing ads) versus the services priority (displaying the ads it needs to allow the user to enjoy a free service). It was only a matter of time before someone thought to try and work around ad-blockers, and all this will eventually lead to is open warfare (competing Javascript or browser code in the browser) on your machine. Instead of working around the workaround, why not consider another service that doesn't inundate you with ads?

    Because eventually they turn from providing a free service to inundating you with ads? Just like yahoo?

    If you mean "yahoo" then yes - it's the same e-mail client I signed up for years ago.

    If Yahoo completely shuts down, I certainly won't fault them for not providing e-mail services. Until then, I will expect what I signed up for.

    Years ago - when I signed up it was "free e-mail for life" - nothing was mentioned about being forced to view ads.

    Maybe they should of been more clear with their business model back then.
