If you REALLY wanted energy independence, step 1 is to get rid of the mini-vans, Jeeps, the "cross-over" vehicles, and the "look I've got SO MUCH horsepower" crap. If it can't do at least 20mpg city/30mpg highway, just melt it down for scrap.
Nahh. Let the consumers get what they want. Pass a law instead that bans all city dwellers from owning a vehicle and force them to use public transportation instead.
I remember reading a lawsuit where drink manufacturers putting citrus in diet soda caused the the soda to form benzine by breaking down one of the preservatives.
At the risk of being a jerk - While technolgy and information reigns - nobody would be stupid enough to walk into a death zone.
If civilization crashes - some twit will walk out in front of the death hole and say "if you go in there you'll die"
At that point - if some idiot goes into the hole, he'll die. As will the next idiot, and the idiot after that.
The "Shamen" that said "if you go in there you'll die" will spawn a new religion, and the very few twits that would walk into the death hole will be regarded as stupid non-believers.
Where's the choice on Firefox for MSN search? Any of the browsers that can be used on Linux - Where's the choice for MSN?
I use firefox, and I use google exclusively. Now I'm starting to rethink google because lately they seem more like a Big Company, and less like the "friendly geeks coding apps".
Throttling is the reason I'm dumping netflix. I've gone from 5 or 5 dvd's a week, to three - four if I'm lucky - occaisionally one dvd when I'm extremely unlucky.
Tell me, what percentage of US consumers are in debt these days?
How long was the beating to force them to buy the plasma tv to be in debt? Was it thumbscrews for the killer entertainment system? Testicle squeezing for the xbox?
Or are you going to say that very little of the "Big scary debt Numbers" is by personal choice?
U.S. Cellular gives 900 anytime minutes, no roaming regardless of network in the service area (three or four states) , unlimited nights and weekends from 7 pm on, unlimited incoming calls (not charged to your minutes), free mobile to mobile minutes (to other USC customers) for 66.00 US including all taxes.

God I wish I had invested in tin foil 15 years ago...
I just bought the 10 anthology of C and C and for the past two weeks have been running thru the general set and the expansion - I love the challenges section where you pit yourself against all of the generals - I especially love the finger of death weapon - the particle cannon.
Can't wait to see the new game - I usually wait months before purchasing a new release, but I'll prolly pick this one up the day it's released.
I agree with your sentiment, but you're just playing a semantic game. What the GP post is saying that our mass production of cattle which causes an increase in pollutants is no more natural than burning fossil fuels. She/he has a valid point.
Well, only if you conveniently forget to remember how many Buffalo were around long before man came in and killed them all..
And how many 1930's classic saturday matinee serials have you bought recently?
about a couple of dozen. They are finally letting out the old batman and robins, and the Buck rogers serials I love watching.
Only new dvd's I've purchased over the past 8 years have been StarGates seasons. So yes, the majority of the money I spend on DVD's are exactly for 1930's serials.
So that's approximatly $1 a litre - which is still almost half of what I (in London) have to pay.
And you forgot to mention your money goes for Health care why? We're not getting anything out of the high prices other than gas in the tank.

For computing tasks which don't involve any maths, Macs just can't be beat.
Ahh, so when did Mac release a gaming platform, and where do I get the games?

Library has three a day for free. the movie place near me has older movies at fifty cents for seven days.
Netflix was only reasonable at the price for me not having to wait to see series dvd's that I'd have to order at the library.
At this rate - I'm better off walking to the library or the dvd store .

The origional fans that fueled the series don't want to see the past ""Fleshed out" (I.E. the timeline massacred even more).
That's why enterprise was such a failure. That's why this movie will also be a huge failure.
And here I thought the reason for my spam reduction was because of their filters...
There's a reason why they call it BETA. Some people are just so stupid.
