I can see the purpose of a dispoable film-based camera. They're cheap, they serve a purpose, you don't need to worry about up-keep.
But a disposable digital camera, such as is discussed here, isn't really "dispoable" at all... I think you lose the bang-to-buck ratio that you have with the film based cameras. Plus, why bother? Why not just buy a non-dispo digital camera, and keep using it? I just don't see any value being added here.
I was thinking the same thing... the process rooms I work in don't have a lot of extra space, but we need various data loggers to monitor what's going on... something like this little box would enable me to not only watch what's going on, but also to do some number crunching and spew the data off to a server pretty easily. (I currently use a Fluke data logger - not exacly high-tech).
(a NASA contractor, anyway) they've finally gotten around to writing down hisotries from the various astronauts who've worked for NASA over the years. Until recently, there has been no such archive. Some may scoff at this, but some of the greatest insight into the history of the space program can be gained from the individual astronaut's experience. I'm glad to see NASA doing this, it is culturally and historically significant.
to some techniques used in molecular modelling for new pharmaceutical compounds and their interaction with the active sites in the body. I used a very old and simple such program years ago on an older mac, but these programs now are massive databases of biological and chemical functions with the ability to render it all in 3D. I would assume that this technoogy could be well adapted to making modelling more efficient.
I've always had the impression that this has always been the case. Linus realy doesn't care, but by not caring, it should, in his mind, keep RMS "happy", and RMS can spout-off all he wants.
I really can't see why people seemed shocked, surprised, or whatever-else about this statement.

I think we can all see that this is not a "long-run" type product.
kinda like using an "escort service" for extended periods of time, I suppose.

yes, this is a pathetic attempt at role-playing based humor, but damnit, I'm in pain. deal with it.
Now I'll be able to have so much excessive computing power that it'll be even more of a complete and total waste than my current system!
Yeah!
