    Insolvency: The state of being unable to meet debts or discharge liabilities; bankrupt.


    I'm glad Suse is getting this help. They are really well liked in Germany, and a GOOD Linux distro.

    Consider that this would seriously irritate Russia, who isn't too pleased with the United States as it is.


    Consider too that many of the best minds are not from America, and this sort of bullshit will easily dissuade them from ever touching on American soil.


    The DCMA and disgustingly similar concepts are going to box the United States in, and slowly but utterly stagnate it.


    Summary:

    Fewer bright citizens immigrating (or just plain aiding) for fear of prosecution =

    Fewer innovations in the USA =

    The eventual demise of an empire.

    The previous incumbent was the asteroid Ceres which was discovered in 1801.

    Reminds me of a political party in Canada (NPC)that tried to implement a new method of communication called Newspeak. Now that was ironic. (and very funny)


    Regardless, the fact that it learns like that is incredible. I just wonder if it won't hit a block at any point that isn't forseen.

    The CRTC was mainly focused on Telus etc providing other ISPs with DSL provisionability at reasonable rates (ie $50/month).


    It does not directly focus on costs towards the customer. It just means that it should offer wholesale service for xDSL to ISPs at a price that would allow them to be competitive. (Kind of silly, really... and Bell etc got around it anyway with the concept that the price & profit could be achieved with only 5,000+ customers)


    If they wanted to jack up the price, I'm pretty sure they could. They'd just have to allow other ISPs to offer at the same amount.

    Broadband too cannot be supported, especially with the baby-bell competition hitting the area. I'd honestly prefer to pay $70+ if it would keep the competition and quality available.


    I'm just glad I'm on DSL instead of @home... (switched 8 months ago)

    IE is fast on MacOS, yes. However, don't tell me it adheres to W3C standards better.


    Perhaps it holds CSS better, but I'll be damned if it hasn't perverted website development for years to come.

    that Microsoft has optimized IE with Windows, using closed source binaries and tweaks only they could ever do being as they wrote the bloody operating system.

    Mozilla, Netscape, Opera haven't had that wonderful advantage, which is one of the reasons the Justice Department wanted it separated into two companies. Personally, I think a few bits of source should've had to have been released to these browser companies. Microsoft's upper hand is in knowing the environment to its fullest extent, and indeed tweaking that environment to suit their browser.

    THAT is why MS Internet Explorer isn't worth a mention; they cheat.

(INTC - news), in its ongoing dispute with Via Technologies Inc., of Taiwan, is warning computer makers to steer clear of a new chip set from Via that could enable the manufacturers to build cheaper Pentium 4-based PCs by enabling them to use a less costly high-speed memory technology.


    ...you mean someone will finally pay what this bs chip is worth? What a shame that'll be!


    Via and AMD certainly aren't having the same problems.
