Anyone else have a problem with Mozilla restarting their computer (Win2k)? I have no idea why, but sometimes - around once a week or so - when I close mozilla it takes my entire computer with it instantly. It wouldn't be so weird in itself since it could be a bad win2k install, except that I've had it happen at work as well (again under Win2k). The only hardware the machines really have in common is the main board. Unfortunatly when this happens it also seems to completely wipe all my settings (bookmarks/history/mail/prefs). Other than that things look good. Hopefully RC2 will fix that problem with JavaScript changing the status bar text (in chinese) and using 99% of my cpu...

look at the samba homepage (or google) for SWAT. For some reason I've never actually gotten SWAT to work so I can't say how well it works. I've heard good things about it though. I believe there are other front ends for samba also.

The real cool thing (or one of them at least) about samba, is that once you have it fired up, and have a SMB name, people on a windows PC can just point their web browsers to that SMB name. That's saved me a lot of headaches because people can't remember an IP address.

But I didn't really go there to learn to program a language - the view there was you go to college to learn HOW to program, the language is up to the job you get (try passing that off on a job interview). I stuck with college not because I wanted the money, nor because I actually thought I'd learn something, I did because I wanted the piece of paper that said I graduated so I could GET a job I wanted. Yeah it's BS but that's sort of how the whole system works. I mean do most people become doctors because they really want to help people? Honestly I haven't met many.

Generally if you don't put comments in there and have a large enough range I don't think they could nail you for anything.

But if it was up to me I'd just start blocking stuff and act like I didn't know what was going on. When people complain I'd just claim they need to upgrade whatever software they're useing. "And what were you using BTW?"

I agree. I think what it boils down to is that people don't want to believe that the universe will eventually be a cold dark ever expanding lifeless hulk. They'd rather see it reborn. I guess I like the idea that the universe cycles, but after reading various arguments, I'd have to say I don't buy the cycle theory. The insignificant amount of time that life on earth has/will exist pales in comparison to how many trillions of years the universe will expand (in either theory).

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to mean - although few ever really obey it. Usually what happens is people don't stop until the light is actually red, or for the bad drivers, it's not really red until it's been red for a few seconds.

Really what it comes down to is that people know they can get away with it. I'm originally from North Dakota where there is a fairly short cycle for yellow, and about one second where all lights are red. When I moved to Pennsylvania I found a longer interval for yellow, but once one set of lights turns red, the other instantly turns green. It's interesting to see how the driving habits have been adjusted accordingly - and people still run red lights either way

You've never bought a CD where there is only one good song? Then you're lucky. I have, and it pissed me off. Now this is certainly not the usual case considering the weird taste in music that I have, but I really feel ripped off when it happens. Now when I download music it's usually to get a feel for the group. If I find I like a lot of songs from the album, I definatly go and buy the album (and usually rip much higher quality for myself). Then again I spend most of my time trying to download songs to replace my huge tape collection. I've purchaced CDs to replace the ones I REALLY like (when I can find a CD for it), but I'm not going to do that for all of them.

I think where record companies are seeing sales crap out is in the cookie cutter crap that is marketed on MTV. In my opinion none of the music pushed there is worth paying for (or probably downloading either). The record companies are scared because they don't know how to market talent, they've become trapped in there own little game of push garbage wrapped in pretty packaging.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. People always seem to miss the point that you don't need proof for religion. Religion is about FAITH. Who has the stronger faith: the main who believes because he has the hard facts in front of him, or the man who simply believes? If you look at the bible (mainly the old testament), a lot of it is about people doing crazy stuff that God told them to, and having it actually work out because God rewards their faith. In this respect, most religions work in the same fashion. I wish other people wouldn't be so quick to criticize those who believe in their faith - that is after all; the point.
