I somehow doubt it since the Japanese version of FFX has been out for quite a while now. I'm sure there are subdle differences between the Japanese and Western PS2, but they can't be that great. From the hardcore people in the US who got their hands on FFX, I haven't heard anything bad about it as of yet.

How about this? We take samplings of each eco-system, and put them on every other eco system, and see which ones destroy which eco system. If it gets out of control, that's okay - because we'll just bio-engineer giant mutant ants that can fly, which will wipe out only the bad stuff. And if that doesn't work, we'll make an army of intelligent android like machines to kill all offending life forms - and that's perfectly safe, because we can always hit the "off switch".

I think in years to come we're going to look back on many different ideas which were very good but never made it. Why? Because they got swallowed up, the big company didn't know what to do with it, and eventually it became a casualty of a budget cut/lack of interest by the big corperation. It's sort of sad to think of how my internet experience a few years ago was defined by fairly innovative ideas that were doing pretty good, and now most of them have been taken over and either killed or corrupted beyond redemption. WBS really comes to mind as the only chat room I've ever been able to tolerate, and that was killed not so long ago (taken over by Infoseek alliance or whatever). Even slashdot itself might end up in this category eventually...

Not that I think it would matter since Open/Star Office would own them in that area anyway, as most Linux users are not the sort of people that like to pay hundreds of dollars for a closed source which probably wouldn't work very well anyway. But what this is all missing is that the REAL heart of the problem are the fundamental rules of which EQ is based off of. Insane hardware requirements, Driver problems up the wazoo, and bad servers make this situation just that much worse. And what is with that patch client anyway? Hello Verant?
