  1. Re:It'll grow into itself. on PlayStation 3 May Play Too Much · · Score: 0, Redundant

Remember when 64k would always be enough memory?

  2. It'll grow into itself. on PlayStation 3 May Play Too Much · · Score: 5, Insightful

Much like buying a child a shoe that is a half size bigger, the PS3 will grow into itself. There's no such thing as "too much" on a gaming console. The more you can do with it, the better.

  3. Re:Land of the free on Limited Email Surveillance Approved · · Score: 1

Yes, use encryption. But what happens is the one guy who uses it gets more scrutiny, if everyone uses it, then there would be less of a stigma. It starts with an inch, and eventually becomes a mile. I don't trust our elected and appointed leaders to protect my rights. My last name isn't Inc. or LLC.

  4. Re:Careful..... on Surveillance Is on the Rise, Straining Carriers · · Score: 1

It's the right and the duty of the people to revolt if their government oppresses them.

Not due to fear of violent reprisal. If you had even bothered to read my post, you would have seen that I didn't mention it. Just out of common decency. The punishment (rioting, etc) doesn't fit the crime (stupid cartoons), I think we can agree on that. Count backwards from ten please.

  8. Quite the shitstorm. on Danish, Western Websites Under Attack · · Score: 1

This has become quite the shitstorm. Just because you can say something, doesn't mean it's always the best idea to say certain things. There's certains things like tact, compassion, etc. This whole situation is unfortunate though.

Just show a pic of /Bin/Laden like the visage of Goldstein, then you can do anything.

  10. Conflict of interest. on Microsoft Officially Announces Anti-Virus Product · · Score: 1

I see a conflict of interest here. The incentive to actually plug security holes isn't there is you charge people to protect them from your shitty products. This is like slashing someone's tires, then making them pay you to patch it.

Yes, I've seen it, the human brain is amazing.

  12. Very cool. on Network-Monitoring Data Put to Music · · Score: 4, Insightful

It sounds kind of hokey, but it probably works very well, certainly better than looking at a bunch of hex. This probably depends on what you're using to monitor your traffic. After all, the best morse code transcribers do 250 wpm.

  13. Standardisation and homogenisation. on Does Company-Wide Language "Standardization" Work? · · Score: 1

I think you use the language best suited to the problem. Isn't that the way it has always been done? If you standardise on java, and there's something you can't do in java, by the time you standardise on something else, you've lost a lot of production time.

  16. Germany. on Acquittal of German Wikipedia · · Score: -1, Offtopic

  17. Net zero. on Yahoo Allegedly Sells Reporter Out to Chinese Authorities · · Score: 2, Interesting

To me, they're netting zero, they're opening things up, but helping an extremely repressive regime keep a stranglehold on power. I don't know how the heads of these companies sleep at night. The great firewall, yahoo helping them jail dissidents, google blocking things. This could be us in a few years.

  18. Autobiographies. on Got a Question for Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales? · · Score: 1
