  1. MythTV on Tivo Institutes 1 Year Service Contracts · · Score: 4, Insightful

I was flirting with getting a tivo, but have reconsidered. I already have a DVD recorder, and as much of a pain as it is, I'm going to build a mythtv box. Tivo obviously does not care about their consumers, only about money and fellating hollywood.

  2. Clears up one thing. on Artist Suggesting Ways Around Copy Protection · · Score: 1

It's not about the artist, who makes not a lot from albums, but the poor record companies, trying to protect their old and busted business model. The horse-drawn carriage went out of service, so can record dictatorships.

Everyone seems to love corporations so much, this is the logical outcome.

  4. Don't buy it. on Blu-Ray To Punish Users for Modifying Hardware · · Score: 1

Don't buy it then. Put your money where your protest is. I know I won't. Fuck Hollywood, it's your purchased copy of their movie, and your hardware. Are we licensing hardware now? This is bullshit. They shouldn't even sell it if they want such control. Cunts.

  5. Not necessarily a good thing. on Economist Looks at the Digital Home · · Score: 1

  6. Misrepresented on Man Convicted For Hacking Xbox · · Score: 1

    Wow, what a misrepresentative headline.
He wasn't convicted of hacking them for his own use, as would be suggested, but for selling them with 80 games installed.
    Were the 80 games legal?
    Public domain?
Come on guys, you can do better.
    Don't be so sensationalistic.

I don't dispute that, but some patents are frivolous and predatory.
A patent by itself is not evil, just as a gun is not, but in the wrong hands.....

  12. It is not. on Symantec Patents Multiple File Area Virus Scanning · · Score: 4, Insightful

It is not the responsibility of the Federal Government to
    A)Protect your business model.
B)Ensure you can "pay back your investors for a long shot" This patent is bullshit, it's like EA, just eliminate all competition, then what incentive is there to change or improve? None, slap 2006 on it and ship it. I want a patent on "Exchanging Oxygen for Carbon Dioxide utilizing organic muscle structures", and sue everyone who breathes.
