alright, ill admit i never owned a snes, so there is a gap in my personal video game history, so ill concede there is a bit of rose in my glasses when it comes to my favorite nes games. I actually was playing SMW on saturday (again, emulated on the ol xbox), and generally prefer smb 3. Thats not to say that SMW did not bring a bunch of new things to the party.
i also used to play yoshis island on my cousins snes, and really liked the style of that game, and the gameplay was just a ton of fun. Too bad that is overlooked.
just as the past systems are purely software emulated, thats what i see the future being (since its usually of questionable legality, and the hackers around dont have their own chip fab plants to make emulator add in card, as cool as that may be)
I played super mario brothers 3 yesterday. It is (IIRC) 16 years old. I dont play it because it looks great, or that it is just the rose tint in my glasses. It still is one of the best platformers ever made (imho). I dont have the hardware anymore, so thank god for the console hackers who brought me fce on my xbox
maybe in 15 years, we can emulate x86 fast enough to play hl2 (i havent played it so i cant comment on its "defining classic" status) on our futuristic billion core, gazillion mhz machines.
Hotness. Now, if there was some sort of metatag system, combining some of the ideas of winfs (im sure its been done someplace before, just the first place ive seen it implemented) then ill have everything i need, without having to go back to windows.
agreed. My only hope is that it could do this over multiple volumes. With my media collection spanning multiple harddrives, it would be nice to have it aggrigate them into on logical volume, and organise them by metadata (tv show, movie, music album, etc)
now, will somebody port something similar to linux so i can lay this ontop of the ext3 filesystems i currently use.
in a buisness the same as posted. In a small buisness, everyone usually needs to wear multiple hats. I am the IT Manager, head programmer, etc. Id hate to think how lost my coworkers would be if I didnt know what the hell I am doing. Thats my limited expirence, anyhow.
A friend of mine (brilliant programmer i worked with at a startup) works at google now. Hes only got a BS, but its from cornell. Hey, he earned it. My BS from a small catholic school, most people have never even heard of it:/
digg has an interesting way of doing things. It would be like a community moderated slashdot, to judge what is shown on the front page. It is actually done by kevin rose, formerly of techTV/g4. He actually does a podcast every week, discussing the top stories. I found his cohost to be quite radio unfriendly, but people want it, i guess
I do the same thing with the tv shows i watch alot (simpsons, south park, etc). I turn them on as background while i code or play games, etc. Funny how you get a picture in your mind and can follow along without actually watching
I would agree, to a point. I got into podcasting through TWIT, which is done by people with TV and radio expirence. However, alot of podcasters do not have this expirence, and while their efforts are appreciated, amount to unlistenable dreck. I recently bought a sirius receiver, so i cut back the amount of average quality podcasts i listen to. Now, its just TWIT, and thats merely because I like to hear some of my favorite former techtv personalities talk about current subjects (except dvorak. Cant stand the episodes that they bring that prick on)
Agreed. I use a combination of google, for general directions (oh, the atlantic ocean is EAST of here, gotcha), and a trusty ol road atlas for my in-car driving directions. That reminds me, I'm going on vacation next week, better dig out the dead tree with roads painted on it.
did you ever see the movie "wag the dog". It parallels what happened during clintons days, and has some echos of the current administration. Id like the movie even more than i already do, if it didnt seem so real...

instead of mega mega, i think ultra mega, and then super ultra mega. There is more words, so it has to be more better! :)
(bad grammer is intentional)
Not to be nit-picky, but the 360 plus a game to play online plus a subscription to XBL is going to be more than $500
assuming you get the $399 version (which most people will, imho) and a year sub to xbl
iirc, if you drank the wine you could pick up in deus ex, your abilities would be limited (it has been a while, so i dont recall perfectly)
also, you could smoke the cigarettes and your health would take a 5 point or so hit.

Wasn't TechTV sold to comcast and merged with G4? At least that is my recollection of the transfer
indeed :P

not having to resort to ndiswrapper and losing functionality i enjoy under linux would be nice

hm, good point. Still grate satire :)
