indeed, finder needs work. Just today I was trying to change the ownership of a folder tree (try it) and you get a busy cursor for a while (!). That looked strange to me. What looked even stranger afterwards was that although I tried to do it recursively on the subfolders, it only got one level deep.
The finder still needs work...
O, btw, another one, nothing to do with speed however: try adding a special purpose group, like 'developers'. It can be done, but coming from linux you'll be searching for a while.
the guy writes his paper in postscript, what do you expect?
yep, but I was urged to wait a while

Just this week I have decided to wait a while, since a friend told me he got rumours that the line-up would be refreshed and there might be a price shift in a month or so...
but yeah, been using MacOS X at the office, and it takes a while to get used to it coming from linux, but it's definitely nice.
And of course you can make your laptop dual bootable:-)
obviously you guys are misinformed. The product you are talking about is phone.mac... it's one of those devices that used to come for free but for which soon you will have to pay hard cash. Other similar upcoming products are : bottleOfWater.mac, coffeeCup.mac and boxOfCookies.mac
this is exactly what I hate about the desktop on linux these days: let's do it like windows. I thought the open source community was about letting your imagination go and do something interesting but instead it turns more and more into let's compete Microsoft. Anyways... at least with open source I can at least *try* to use my imagination and do something I like with the code the community wrote
seems to me that the real possibility for charging is in the archives, which will be very valuable in the end. Then again, google will have to cooperate;-)
it might still help in situations where people are not interested in the latest office but instead want to use a bookkeeping product that has only been developed on some win-api!! So there it is definately a good idea.
imho, the retired people are the real danger : they have the realworld experience, the time and the money ! Of course they blame it on their innocent grandchildren. Bastards !
Or create an encrypted disk image with your personal data and backup that!
Even better: I found out you can also tilt your head by the same angle in the opposite direction!
that, to me, would seem like an incentive *not* to subscribe...
Have you ever tried to put a dummy Windows user behind a Mac?

my mosquitos come to the light of my monitor... my father does sometimes too, but only when he sees booby-like light patterns coming from it.
yeah you're right... after all, you can see your wife nude every night and boy she's not worth the virus you might get of it :-))
