How is this flamebait? It was an honest opinion. It might be touchy subject for some, but how can you argue against me calling Apple products proprietary?
My Lenovo x61s has the ESC right above F1. When I first got my x61s kept hitting F1 instead. In the end I just xmodmapped my F1 to ESC. Problem solved.
"Basically, the problem exists in the DNS system, which translates Web addresses into numerical IP addresses and serves as the phone book for the Internet."
I would have expected more from CNet. I guess thats what the internet is now: "The Web".
I always wonder why Windows didn't use UTC on the hardwareclock, and then use timezone and related info to decide what to display to the user. I guess the domain controller problems relate to kerberos tickets or something like that, right?

Tell people that it is like using a public wireless hotspot to access the net, assume that someone is watching, and maybe even interfering with your traffic.
It seems that Microsoft Research uses Google and not Bing. (Just like everyone else)
I can't say that I would have done anything differently. If he donates the money to EFF great, if not it is his decision, and I am OK with that.
If you didn't donate any money, you don't get to say what is right or wrong.

No, I have been a card carrying open source evangelist since 1997.

So winning a war will be about programming skills and not economic power.
I for one welcome our new communist overlords.
I agree, I wonder how this will change wars. Changing the economics is probably harder than just focusing on education.
Moors law will applied to war is a scary concept.
If that's your idea of abuse, the waaahmbulance is definitely coming to pick you up.
No you are right, it is not abuse it is torture. (in the long run)

Honestly I think this acceptance of things going wrong and "thats just the way IT is" belongs in the Windows world.
I have personally quit 2 jobs in the past because I was asked to work with Microsoft products.
User friendly and sysadmin friendly are two different things.
I wonder if they have fixed the security problems of the past.

The US is getting close to the point where you can sue someone for NOT giving you a reason to sue them.
Too bad that the rest of the world is following close behind.
