    The problem is of course the ionic breeze *ISN'T MOVING AIR*, and thus is hopelessy inefficent.

    Gee, really? I could swear that, when I stick my hand in front of either of my units, I can feel air moving. Thus the name "Ionic BREEZE". No, it obviously doesn't move as much air as some big HEPA unit, but then it also doesn't make quite as much noise - as in, zero.

    Any frame rate that exceeds the refresh rate of your display is effectively wasted. You just won't see the extra frames. A 23% improvement just means that many more frames you won't see.

    Nope. What counts is your minimum frame rate. You want this to be at least 40-50 Hz, IMO, if you want your gaming experience to be free of "stuttering" or "jerkiness". An average of 40 fps can include momentary periods of 10 fps or less. To get a minimum frame rate of 40 Hz, you might need an average rate of 120 Hz, or even higher.

    Well, no, it's kinda hard actually, what with the new digital cable boxes crashing all the time, and the service being out intermittently. The other guy got it right - the cable modem service rawks, but right now the TV service sucks ass.

    Take Iran as a test case. The current government was put into place by a revolution of the people. That's the government they chose. If given the option, right now, they'd choose it again. Is it "right" to remake their country in our own image?

    But Saddam was not put in place by "a revolution of the people"; he seized power Hitler-style, by taking advantage of a weak government and a depressed economy.

    There are other hydrogen fuel cells out there, but they usually operate at high temperatures (the main advantage of PEM). It is not like you want to wait 5 minutes for your car to warm up before you leave.

    No thanks, I'm late enough for work in the morning as it is. That's five more minutes I can't sleep.

    what's the point of 1600x1200 on a 15 inch screen?

    I've got one of these, and I'll tell you what the point is. With 133 dpi resolution, coupled with ClearType, on-screen text looks almost like looking at a printed page. It's effing gorgeous. No jaggies, no individual pixels - just seamless, smooth text. I'll never be happy with a mere XGA or 1280x1024 display again.

    As a student of mechanical engineering, I understand that engineering is the *physical* application of physics and real science to a particular problem.

    Why "physical"? Just because you say so? Software engineering is the process of applying current knowledge about computing to design systems of software and/or hardware that solve particular human problems. How is that not engineering?

    And as for licensing/liability issues... once upon a time, electrical engineers weren't licensed, either. Their field was too new, and not so well understood. With time, that changed. With time, it will change for software professionals, too.

    And I'm sure that this is a great card for its intended mission, but I still wouldn't be surprised if a Radeon 9700 Pro or a GF4-4600 beats it on [your favorite 3D FPS here].
