  1. Straight A's here I come on Camera Phone As High-precision Scanner · · Score: 1

Now students don't have to steal test from the professors office, all you have to do is scan it in and read it later! God bless technology!

Shhhhhhhhhh, don't say that so loud, they might hear you. Then Stallman and the rest of the people at the FSF will have to pay royalties to M$ everytime they use the term FOSS. Anyway, it's obvious they've been stealing code from the OSS front for years. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that after Firefox hit it big, the next version of IE put a yellow bar across the top of the screen when it blocked a popup, and when it needs a plugin? Right down to the button on the right side you can click to make changes. Things that make you go hmmmmm!!!

  4. Re:Newton's law of gravitational force on Global Warming Past The Point of No Return · · Score: 1

Well then... explain to me why calculating Newton's own law of gravitational force gives you mathmatical evidence that there is a strong gravitational pull toward the sun and his law of centripetal force would indicate that this gravitational pull exceeds what is neccessary to maintain an orbit around the sun. Putting the two together would give you an inward pull on the earth and point toward a slow sucking sound from that direction!!!

I'm also not impressed, I too have a University degree and have taken both Algebra and Calc based physics in the process. It wasn't Newton's alma mater, but I have been blessed by some damn fine professors none the less, as I'm sure you yourself are.

  5. They missed the best part on Birth of the Pilot PDA · · Score: 3, Funny

They mentioned that Hawkins made a mock-up out of balsa wood, but they neglected to mention the funniest part of the story. He also made a wooden stylus, and would walk around tapping on the wood with the stylus and talking into it. It was his way of "testing" the design. Must have been funny as hell to see him walking around the streets outside his office doing that!!!!

  7. Re:Why USB? on VW Goes USB · · Score: 1

They're doing this in USB instead of a line-in jack because they're probably getting kick-backs from Apple and Creative for insenting customers to buy adapters and stuff. If it was line-in, you could go to RadioShack and get a cheap cable.

  8. Newton's law of gravitational force on Global Warming Past The Point of No Return · · Score: 1

    F=G((Mearth*Msun)/r^2)

    G is a gravitational constant = 6.673E-11 Nm^2/kg^2
Mass of Earth is 5.9742E24 kg
Mass of Sun is 1.98892E30 kg
r is the distance between the two objects = 1.49E8 km

Run this calculation through you favorite scientific calculator and you will find that the force of gravitational pull between the earth and the sun is equal to 5.32147E36 N. Note that the answer is a positive number, a really big one at that. This means that the sun and the earth are exerting a positive gravitational pull on each other. This would cause the earth and the sun to get closer with each successive pass. How the hell do you figure that the distance between the earth and the sun has not changed for 4 billion years??? Pay attention in physics class and you might learn something!!!

  9. It's only fitting... on Nintendo Revolution Controller Revealed · · Score: 1

It seems to me that Nintendo was the company that designed the two handed, thumb pad joystick that everyone is using now. Why shouldn't they be the ones to design the next gen controller.

Besides, tracking the movement of the players hand could seriously improve some peoples playing... You should have seen my mom trying to play Mario back in the day, she was all over the place with the controller!!!!

  10. Oh please..... on Global Warming Past The Point of No Return · · Score: 0

I've always had a few problems with this global warming concepts. The first is, yes the earth is getting hotter, it's getting closer to the sun. Each year we move just a bit closer to the sun due to it's gravitational pull. Does anyone not realize that we aren't orbiting on a perfect path???
The second problem is with this concept of the polar ice caps melting and the oceans rising. When I was in elementary school we did an experiment. Fill a glass with ice, then fill it with water right up to the edge. Leave it on the counter and let the ice melt. The water level will actually drop. Ice takes up more space than water. If the ice caps melted, the water in the ocean should theoretically go down.
The biggest problem by far is, who cares!!! It'll be thousands of years before it happens, and by then we'll all have our brains digitized and installed into servers. The smartest into Linux servers, the most artistic into Macs, and the dumbest into windows!!!!!

You can't hammer on the 8mb of RAM thing. I am using a Phillips Nino which only has 4mb of RAM, and I have no problems. Oh yeah, It's running WIN CE!!!!! If win ce can run fine on 4mb, linux will run awesome on 8mb. Don't turn your nose up at it. With an $89 price tag, I would have a heartattack if it had any more than that. Also, if it takes compact flash, that short coming can be remedied rather quickly.
