The summary seems inconclusive, it seems that music you listen closely too sounds better with WMP, and fast, not listened to music sounds ok w/ ogg. HM
This is very true, and the theory as to the engine could happen with computers. The one major problem right now, is that there are so many people that don't even want to know. One of the major problems, IMHO, is a 1st time computer person, maybe an older person that really doesnt like computers. I know that my gandparents are like this, and i have tried (unsucessfully) to teach them many things many times. About all they want to know is how to get to solitaire, how to look at websites and how to send email. That's all. Maybe when more people have an open mind, we can teach them about the insides of the computer.
No, but if people continue to buy lower priced, faster x86 linux machines as an alternative to highly priced SGI machines, SGI may be bought by apple, who would then also own maya. (SGI owns Alias|Wavefront IIRC).
but the diff with this fiber, is that it is ALWAYS (from what i've seen) 8-10mbps. I don't think they'll be slowing anytime soon as they have a 160TBps backbone (not sure their link to the rest of the net, that may be just their in-house speed.)
Now all i need is VNC for my microwave and oven, and i can control my whole kitchen from my computer.
Thanks for the info man, i understand how it works now.
=)

Um, isn't RAYZ a piece of software that does compositing, not video editing? There is a difference.
Wait...isn't it already like this?
i think you're confusing OpenGL and glide (which was 3dfx's API).
Just Outta Curiosity, what program is it?

Actually, they can. Check out winfirst out of sacramento, they are offering syncronous 10mb/s fiber for like $50/mo
