There's a reason Seattle companies are so successful, and it isn't because we're lazy.

Fuckin bullshit. That's what the masters want you to believe. They want you to work all those hours because it makes the careerist managers look better. Dont be so fuckin naive

Only 60-80? I'd love to have a job where I worked that little. My current employer has done Seattle hundreds for the past two years. That's 16 hours a day Mon-Thu and 12 hours a day Fri-Sun. The vast majority of white and black employees have quit during that time, and I'm the only non-Indian developer left.

Either you cant find another job or you take pride in it. If its the former I feel sorry for you, if its the latter I have no sympathy. Either way GTFO and live your life

It is not just about being lazy, but about what you do with your laziness. The most intelligent goof off by posting on Slashdot.

You fall into the category of people who think they are intelligent; some of the most intelligent may goof off on Slashdot whereas others don't. But I'll tell you one thing they don't do - make categorical statements about subjective concepts.

Along with all these torrent sites going down for whatever reason, people seem to be getting caught more frequently; recently a friend of a friend was fined €800 for downloading 2 episodes of a TV show. Might seem like anecdotal evidence since its only one example, but i've heard of a few more cases in the past year. Looks like the chickens are coming home to roost. I've agreed with my girlfriend to get a VPN before downloading anything else.

Think about it this way, if Microsoft intentionally tries to sabotage steam on Windows it may make people consider switching to Linux to play their steam library, which in turn would force more game developers to target the Linux platform. Then IF steam on Linux gained enough momentum, It might force Microsoft to backtrack on their decision, keeping them honest. But maybe at that point the people who made the switch to Linux might just stay there. That's a lot of ifs but it could happen...

The US government cant even protect their own data yet they want direct access to private communications of US citizens. To me that just says they just want more control.
