These studies weren't that wrong. For people obsessed with meat, gout is a very real danger.
And there are a lot of things that are good for you but if you consume too much it will at least cause damage (for example vitamin C enhances iron absorption. If you have high-iron stores, consuming an excessive amounts of vitamin C will cause your body to absorb too much iron, which can damage organs.) But recent evidence proves that those pro-carb, anti-fat studies in the 50's are very misleading to say the least. Go to this site http://www.cerealkillersmovie.... to find out more.
One advantage that a console has over a PC is that certain game series are exclusive to console. Apart from that, have you ever compared the frames per second performance of a console game to a PC version? The frames per second can be maxed out on a PC with a more up-to-date graphics card (fallout 3 on an xbox 360 felt like a, excuse the exaggeration, a hamster on a wheel after playing it on a PC)
The problem is that we don't know when a few sessions of therapy or a change in life circumstances would suffice, yet we are so quick to claim they would.
Of course we don't know but they at least have to be tried before we start throwing medication at people.
2. One that requires multiple visits to a doctor, every two weeks for 10 years. Oh, and lots of expensive drugs.
Guess which one is incentivizes doctors and drug companies to pursue it?
You are oversimplifying mental illness; the human brain isn't a piece of machinery where you can just replace a non functioning component with one that does and everything goes back to normal. The problem is people are being prescribed drugs that they don't need where a few sessions of therapy or a change in life circumstance would suffice. However the line between needing medication and not needing it is very blurred, and it differs from person to person.
"let me have something stronger!" and then fall on your face after a few more, unless they are monitoring the blood alcohol content of each customer this is just a retarded exercise in AI, and a dangerous one...not trying to sound like a killjoy I love getting smashed, but this shouldn't be a replacement for a sober bartender
I don't know about all of you, but I personally enjoy having the actual CD when it comes to music. I have quite the collection, and it is a good time. You don't really experience a band when you are just listening to their manufactured singles, you've gotta buy their entire CD!
But that's just me... a humble music loving fellow.
Sam
Sometimes a manufactured single is all a band has to offer.
...if they'd target a couple of the most disruptive sites out there...Facebook and Twitter.
I'd just love to see the panic on peoples' faces, especially the most recent generation which doesn't seem to know how to carry on a real live, meatspace interaction without it.....
Hell, turn them off for maybe a couple of weeks and give everyone a break.
It would be amazing to see what actually gets done during that outtage......
I used to work as a DW analyst in a british bank who off-shored the ETL development to Chennai, India. The manager of the ETL team was earning 1/3 of what I was and I wasn't even a senior member of the Analyst team, there is no way to compete with that unless you yourself live in India.
ON the other hand, perhaps those folks' attention is more often in thought of how to be successful and planning their next step in life, rather than just idle people watching all the time.
I'm not wealthy, but I do alright.
And don't get me wrong, there ARE times I like to kinda just sit and people watch, especially since I live in New Orleans, and man...we have some real characters here.
But that's on relaxing days off. During the work week, however, I'm usually lost in thought on what to do, what I want to do, what I need to do....and I likely don't notice people while I'm out and about either. I'm focused on goals and what I need to do to make a buck, or enhance my pleasure in life.
So, it may not just be elite-ism....it's just that successful (and often wealthy) people have on their minds what it actually takes to be successful, and aren't spending as much time day dreaming about other peoples' lives.
I don't really see that as a bad thing...?
So you believe in the results of the study, as it applies to an individual case that happens to be yourself. Reading your post I've come to the conclusion that you are quite fuckin arrogant and a bit of a wanker, I can picture it now; we go for a couple of beers and you are "lost in though", thinking about how you can better yourself instead of engaging in a conversion. Fuckin die
Say what you want about Microsoft (and some of it is true) but this is progress, even if they (maybe) cherry picked the one trial that had the lowest difference in error rate between the algorithm and a human...
The summary says "Intelligent agents can access calendars, email accounts, browsing history, playlists, purchases and media viewing history to create a detailed view of any given individual". Now lets talk about media viewing history, in particular Netflix. The movies Netflix recommended to me based on my viewing history were, most of the time, not what I wanted. It is applying macro statistical techniques to a micro scenario, not taking into account the subjective taste of the individual. Yes you could say that over time, with more data points, it would get it "right", but an infinite number of monkeys each with a typewriter can in theory write a classic piece of literature, but that's not "intelligence", that's trial and error. If the said Netflix algorithm(s) that recommends movies based on my viewing history was truly "intelligent" (like its depicted in pop culture (e.g. sci-fi, video games etc.) and this summary, it would get it "right" after, at most, several attempts.
Like smoking, if you didn't know it wasn't good for you, you deserve to die anyway.
Yeah yeah, blame the uneducated for their poor decisions in life, people with no empathy for their fellow man just makes me sick. Looking forward to the day you make a mistake through your own ignorance or "weakness", lets see how you handle a taste of your own medicine.
Passing savings on? What kind of commie talk is this. Real capitalism is asking the highest price the market will bear.
Real capitalism? Define real capitalism please, because its not capitalism with plenty of government intervention like it is in the USA (or a lot of countries for that matter).
Take anyone who is poor and you will find a string of bad decisions compounding to the point that they are permanently poor.
Not finishing school.
Drugs.
Crime.
Out of wedlock births.
Gangs.
Attire (Those people lining up around the block for $250 tennis shoes are not middle income people.)
And list goes one. At every turn, THEY made a decision that resulted in them being in the situation they are on.
There is always exceptions, but they are few and far between.
I'm going to assume that since you posted AC you don't have the stones to use your Slashdot pseudonym when writing such comments. Yes the poor make bad decisions, but so do the middle and upper classes. The difference is that when the poor make bad decisions the consequences are likely to be worse than if a person of a higher class were to make the same mistake, because of circumstances (for example no financial safety net, to name just one). Even if a poor person were to make no bad decisions there is no guarantee that they will become as financially independent as people from a higher class, especially in a society where social mobility is low. You have to understand that not everyone will have the same opportunities in life, people wont always do what in their best interest and people don't always get what they deserve. I want to say more but i'm not wasting my energy attacking an AC.
Appeal or not, the writing is on the wall, Ireland and it's theft of revenue from other countries, crippling their social services is over and Ireland will be fucked and forced to ensure all companies pay equal fucking taxes. No fucking special deal to steal other countries revenues, there should be far greater penalties applied to Ireland for this blatant scam and the economic attack on other countries.
All taxes should be paid where the revenue is generated, and not one cent of tax revenue should be allowed to be stolen by other countries. The Irish government are scum for doing this and should be made to economically suffer.
Theft of revenue? You do realise that Ireland's low corporate tax rate (NOT the double irish mechanism) is not only legal, but the only thing keeping a lot of jobs in the country? It is necessary because Ireland is physically isolated from the rest of Europe and is not a self contain economy like Britian.
This just means that Taxi services aren't providing the service that customers want. The solution is for Taxi companies to adapt or to push for any legal changes regarding their operations that will allow them to compete.
Taxing one private company for another's direct subsidy is just un-American.
That's all well and good to say about adaption but Uber and Lyft are claiming not to be a taxi service, but taxis have to adapt? That is not fair competition if they arent following the established rules; Uber and Lyft just want things their way. And another thing, Mr AC, will it be OK for the reason that it is "American" when you lose your livelihood and you maybe don't have a backup skillset because someone can do your job cheaper because they are not playing by the rules?
ShanghaiBill? More like ShanghaiSHILL! :)
But the title is misleading, "plans" to launch (title) and "should" launch (summary) are two totally different things...
FFS editors, please don't word titles to stories like clickbait, it just makes you look less credible.

Is everyone on Slashdot this racist? This is my first time here and I was hoping I landed on a good community, but it seems I was wrong...
This is the internet, its not like people are using their real names and addresses; when there is no accountability...
just buy a console like a sensible person.

Windows 7 is no longer an option for games. largest market share=most potential for profit.
I sense a joke I haven't heard since-
Many moons ago?

1. One that works - quick, fast, cheap, done.
2. One that requires multiple visits to a doctor, every two weeks for 10 years. Oh, and lots of expensive drugs.

I find that it is good to take mini breaks to freshen the mind, especially if you are stuck in a "thinking rut". YMMV...
Say what you want about Microsoft (and some of it is true) but this is progress, even if they (maybe) cherry picked the one trial that had the lowest difference in error rate between the algorithm and a human...
now they can't blame piracy for poor sales.
They will anyway, the music industry cant never make "enough" profit

Which is why a moderately large tech company in Seattle thinks that US$10.00/hour for an Oracle certified database manager is an appropriate wage.
If someone is willing to accept the job, then it is an appropriate wage.
They may not have a choice, is it still acceptable then?
Also PASS the savings on
