Yeah, I've heard that in the past that the job used to be pretty fun but has slowly morphed into "just another government job" over the years.

Kudos to you though, for finding a field where you can actually spend 25 years employed by the same "company" and not get surplussed, fired, or let go. It's really rare these days.

Christ, slashdot, you suck with this 2 minute posting shit. Seriously, LAME. No wonder I haven't posted here in a long time. I'd forgotten how retarded some of this stuff can be.

I make a simple statement, in this case "Interesting to me that you call it a "shit hole" and still spent 25 years employed there." and then followed it up with a question: "Was it always a "shit hole" or has it declined over the years?"

But rather than see that, you instantly go for the knee-jerk (surprised you didn't hit your face with your knee) reaction which is to assume something and then go off on it.

Anyway, sorry your work-life has sucked in the past. Hope it doesn't now.

Here in DC they're running all kinds of negative "campaign" ads regarding the FAA and their treatment of the ATC union.

I imagine both sides are responsible, as usual, but all I'm hearing is the traffic controllers side.

Yeah, god forbid a woman have any imperfections on her. I understand this is porn and its supposed to be fantasy where all women are perfect but come on...Honestly, if my beautiful girlfriend didn't have a few small imperfections on her I'd be a little creeped out I think. And if you don't have a girlfriend (I honestly wouldn't be surprised with this being /. and all), that kind of mindset will work against you if you try to get one. Trust me, I speak from first hand experience. Porn is great but it can and will cause you to have unrealistic expectations for women in real life.

Contrary to popular belief, there are those of us on /. who surprisingly enough, are married and have families. It isn't always wise to assume you're talking to some college kid.

    Anyway, to address your points:

    1) SD porn covers up the cellulite, the sagging, the tiredness, etc. With the ridiculously clear picture HD shows, all of these signs of aging are perfectly visible. It's not just me who doesn't want to see this, the actors themselves take issue with it.

    true.

    But oh well.

If nothing else, maybe the editors will pause and realize that:

    1) banning entire subnets to get rid of problem posters deprives legitimate PAYING customers at the same time. It's a YRO issue that they are ignoring. Do you have the right to get what you pay for? Yes.

    2) I seriously think no one here would have a problem if the coders would merely state "Hey, it's time for a code push, we are pretty sure it's solid, but if something breaks, email us." We don't get that. Again, as someone who has paid money for this site, this is WRONG. Imagine if MS or some other website did something like this? Slashdot would be all over it. But if it occurs on their own turf, it's ignored, or flippantly remarked about in the creator's journal. Whatever.

    3) Moderation is BROKEN. BADLY.

    4) Duplicate stories. I don't expect the slashdot team to catch every article, I don't. But it does get ridiculous some times.

    The bottom line is this:

a lot of us PAY for the content here. Granted, you can't have everything, but our voices are NOT EVEN BEING HEARD. We are after thoughts. I can't post what I think to Taco's Journal because I'm not his "friend". If you email him, you often get either ignored completely or treated like you don't matter.

This site started out in his dorm room. It's not a dorm room job anymore. Things are different in the real world. Perhaps they'll learn someday.
