As for those hot spots, I noticed that often those big square fans fit well over a 19 inch rack...or between the back side of two rows of racks. while this is not optimal, it could solve the problem of airflow temporarly. I agree, colder is better. don't do the 'cool' thing and have your 'office' in the corner of the server room, put it outside, so you can enjoy heat while doing admin work. As for hardware maintenence, as said above, wear a sweater. www.sierra.com has some good picks
By false cieling, you mean a panel/grid system, you should most defenitly remove the panels and open up the plenum space. This not only allows the heat to rise more efficently, but it makes your room look cool. Make sure to check fire codes first.
Actually, you want aviation fuel. "Jet Fuel" or JP A and B, made for JET engines is very similar to kerosine. What you were thinking of was Av-gas, which is 100 octane gas made for internal combustion engines, like continentals of lycomings. Still quite a funny joke though
ok, thanks for the explination. its still not entirely clear, but choose to press charges against the hacker? I wouldn't know who he/she might be, given anon proxies, etc.
Other interpretation: sue MS for faulty software that caused me to lose something? I can't bc I agreed to their EULA when I installed Windows. That EULA states "we are not responsable for..."
I think I got your question. I wouldn't press charges anyways
Microsoft? Deciding NOT to press charges? That would happen only after Ghandi started a world war, Humans land on Pluto and George Bush starts rapping.
Microsoft will press charges for ANYTHING in order to protect its' monopoly. They would sue my pet rat if it chewed through a shrink-wrap EULA without reading it.
but then I violated the NDA, by giving it to my friends. Also, tehy cannot use the info, bc MS would associate my friends with me and me with the NDA that i signed. So, why not let my Windowz Boxen get hacked, and the protocal info anonymously released onto the great expanse of the internet?
I am going to sign up, use the passport ID, sign the NDA, and eat the cost of obtaining the information. BUT, here is my way out. I am gonna do all this with a stock out-of-the-box windows machine. I will pasword protect everything the way the average windows user does. I will keep the protocal info on my hard drive in a password protected folder a-la M$ regulations. I will of course connect the computer to a DSL modem, so I can use IE and passport, at which point my IP will become availible for all to see. It is a shame that I couldn't keep those malicous hackers out, as the operating system failed. But I used it just the way MS gave it to me.....
According to the articcle this seems to be mainly applicable to small freight trains and passenger trains. There s a huge valid market for these locomotives. The northeast coordoor would benefit greatly from higher speed trains, and they are a joy to ride on, much less hassle the La Guardia or Logan.
The US rail system. It is a piece of shit. If we had viable transportation, there might be some more money to renovate the trains. They, despite their age, are a viable alternative to air travel. The Northeast coordoor and the SFO-LA routes are ripe for high speed trains. THis would do a lot to alleviate the crowding and security concerns involved with airplanes.
Flexibility isn't an issue. imagine eachnanotube as a molecule. like steel or carbon, it can probably be patterened in such a way as to make it have enough flexibility.
Can someone give stats on how big the final ISS will be? Also, what type of webcam was he using? a 3 chip firewire thing, or a serial port POS? perhaps we can use this as an educational tool, and look at planets as well as the ISS.

I agree. these type of airbags should be looked at more closely for flying vehicles. Also, the manually deployed vehicle parachutes for ultralights could be used.

NO, the helocopter dies, and you autorotate down to the ground. At any decent helo flight school, they will force at least 3 practice autorotations, where they actually shut off the engine. They are no more dangerous then having an engine shut off in a Porsche at 140 mph. It just takes a little more training, which wouldn't be a bad thing for most car drivers.
Granted.....BUT. According to what I have heard about the DRM, it limits my ability to copy what I NEED to. Like the rather overpriced, but worth it RadioHead CD that I dont want damaged by airline security....Or that song that I made myself on a synthesizer and burned...Or the 856 dollar copy of Lightwave 7.0 that I have to backup and use when I travel.
So, people might pirate things, but I could have pirated any f the above stated items. Why didn't I? Because the RadioHead CD was overpriced, but well worth it for the sound quality. I BOUGHT lightwave instead of using a dongle emulator because the program is so good, and I value the tech support, etc.
So people pirate. So let the corporations stop it by making it worth it for people to buy, rather then steal their products.
In all suriousness, the French used to do nuclear testing near Sri-Lanka. COuld these be corrupted genes? If not, where can I be a tree hugger and send money to?
My aunt works for a sign company in California. They usually just print cardboard forms, then stack up a rather large amount of vinyl sheeting and use a laser to cut 50+ sheets at a time. the system works the same way one of those old mechanical pencil enlargers works to guide the laser. I know I am over-simplifying things, but thats basically it.
I am assuming you are doing vinyl cuts which will then be glues to metal. You didn't leave much info.
Shame this had to come out on FOX, I mean its good the general media is picking up on this, but FOX is so ill-reputed.
The article brings up some good points. The EFF want to sue the owner of the bot for child-porn distribution? The machination of society is often ranted about by Gibson, Stephenson and other Cyber-Punk authors. Machines naver lie right? Are there any lawsuits involving fixed/wrong machines? Anyone ever fought a rigged red light ticket?
you know those hand heaters for skiing, etc? They come on bulk pacckages, in case you have a lot of equipment in heat

Not if you are buying Wagner....
Uhm, Ok, how come we have the DMCA, had Prohibition, and how come two 14 year olds were given the death penalty....in the US of A?
Hopefully, Canada isn't as idiotic as the US. I feel ashamed sometimes to be a citizen of the US....

I have much prefered sibelius. the interface is far easier. It is like comparing Maya and Lightwave
