Once they took out one of the only two play modes I would ever use (LAN play), and threw in the DRM, I was never going to have "fun" with it, since I wasn't going to buy it.
So, you don't buy any games, ever? It's 2011 and only a tiny tiny minority (5% or less) have any sort of LAN support and the vast majority (95%+) have some sort of DRM.
I understand that some of you people want to allow piracy for personal use, but this is business.
Except, how is a business supposed to know if its suppliers are running pirated software?
This basically says that Microsoft now demands that anybody buying a widget from anywhere in the world effectively enforces a software audit on its suppliers. You know what happens if you tell your supplier they need to open up their stuff to you for scrutiny just in case they're doing something offensive to a 3rd party? They laugh at you, and cancel the deal.
And then they suddenly have noone to do deals with. This isn't far fetched at all actually. In my country, a lot of labor union rules are not enforced at the level of any given company XYZ, but also also at the suppliers/subcontractors for company XYZ. Given big enough leverage, this can be forced and enforced.
What? A device manufacturer isn't releasing a software update for a device that's 2,5 years old (3G launch date: 11.08.2008)? Someone call the press! Seriously, with other manufacturers you are lucky if you get updates for a single year. Bitching that your 2,5 year old phone isn't getting an update is completely ridiculous.
Sadly this isn't limited to AOL users. I work as tech support in Finland and I see this daily. Come to think of it, I know what part of UI needs to be dropped - the search bar. That way people would MAYBE eventually learn to type URLs into the address bar and actually go to Google to enter search queries. Alas, this will never happen, because Firefox gets money from Google for people using their search. Ditto for Chrome.
For as long as stupid people will continue to have money, computers and operating systems will be made (and sold) to accomodate such people. That's just the way it is.
The attack wasn't really a suicide bomber, it was 5 gunmen? One of the gunmen was actually an american? The atack was carried out to the music of Hans Zimmer?
You make a good point about centralization == bad.
That's why I've kept my Landline phone, because it still works even when the DSL goes down (dialup backup) or power goes out (has its own power) or cellphone towers are overloaded.
What the hell are you talking about.
The most common cause of a DSL line going down is a problem with the signal coming to your premises aka some copper somewhere along the way is a bit too shitty. Your DSL line and your landline use the exact same copper pair. When your DSL line goes down, whether your landline phone continues to work or not depends on how bad is the cable damaged. If it's anything serious, your landline phone will be just as dead.
Customer education is an issue with this one. I haven't talked to someone with that issue but we offer free Norton with internet service
What is wrong with you? No, really? Have you actually used the recent Norton versions? I reckon a fair share of those who actually have would agree that Norton's presence on one's PC is actually worse than most malware infections.
The law was reviwed to boost 3G development, now the carriers are allowed to sell phones with contract and even lock the phone to it. However, no carrier is allowed to build their own antennas in an area where there allready exists an antenna. Eeach carrier can compete on bringing the anntenna first to an area, but are forced to rent the bandwith to competitors. And that is freedom for everyone. The consumer and the carrier.
Stop spreading misinformation. There is absolutely no obligation to rent the mobile network infrastructure to your competitors in Finland. And yes, I work for a major finnish operator. There IS an obligation to provide your copper (and only copper, this doesnt apply to fiber) networks for rent to other operators who want to sell ADSL over it, but this has nothing to do with mobile service whatsoever.
How would switching to open source help when you are getting raided on the PRETENSE you are using pirated software? You could be using a lab full od Linux PCs and still get raided to ensure you are "in compliance".
In other words, only musicians who play the kind of music that you like to listen to should make a living at their music.
In other words, only musicians who play the kind of music that people are actually willing to pay for should make a living at their music. Fixed that for you.

Most people can't be bothered to learn how to use software applications so everybody should dumb-down to their level!
Yes. Ever wonder why Apple products are popular?
I would have no reason to use ZFS on anything other than a file or NAS server. I don't think its worth the risk
You are doing it wrong. I don't think it's worth the risk to use anything else except ZFS on a file or NAS server.

They still outsell ALL Android phones and Apple phones COMBINED. Nokia is the giant in Cellphones
Er, no. Android devices alone outsell all of Nokia even without Apple. You could at least look up Q4 2010 numbers before starting to spew bullshit.
For as long as stupid people will continue to have money, computers and operating systems will be made (and sold) to accomodate such people. That's just the way it is.
...willful infrigement.
Those customers will still be very annoyed when their IM file transfer services stop working.
What's IM? The current generation of youngsters has no idea of such a concept. To them, IM = Facebook and Twitter.
So:
The attack wasn't really a suicide bomber, it was 5 gunmen?
One of the gunmen was actually an american?
The atack was carried out to the music of Hans Zimmer?
Just like MW2, alright...
What kind of a retarded question is that? Banning classroom use of silly text books and writing on paper is what should be getting banned.
I imagine they tolerate student piracy so that those students will go on to become professional users and pay for a licence
Adobe offers a student license for a very affordable price. Last I looked it was $300 for a specialized suite of CS5 programs.
WTF, are you insane? My girlfriend (who is a student) will eat for 1 1/2 months on that 300$. Affordable my ass.

is Netflix should start billing Comcast for agreesing to deliver content to Comcast customers. I wonder how Comcast would like THAT.
um you do realise they can't track about 70% of the cell phones currently in use right.
triangulation takes time 10-15 minutes at a minimum. so unless your phone broadcasts e911 gps they don't know where you are.
What kind of assbackwards mobile network are you talking about? Triangulation using mobile base stations is at most, a 2-3 minute affair.
- sincerely,
European mobile providers
If it's unprotected, as seems to be the case here, then that would be the reasonable assumption.
To play devil's advocate: the fact that I didn't lock my front door is not a reasonable assumption that I am inviting you to enter my apartment.
I wonder what these ISPs would think if Google, Facebook and the like would start charging THEM, for letting their users access their services?
Even if the Per GB price dropped by 80 or 90% SSD's would still be more expensive and have a lot shorter life expectancy than current HDD's
You've got that completely backwards. SSDs of today have a LONGER life expectancy than traditional mechanical drives, due to lack of moving parts.
Now if there were any actual IT security jobs around...

"Cross-platform" means its usable on both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
to open source, this is a prime example. Sheesh!
