ummm... may have been the "longest continuous economic expansion in history of nation" but that was on the backs of Enron, WorldCom, and other companies cooking the books...
why go overseas? middle america has THOUSANDS of unemployed people that would gladly do the work and a wage that is far less that the coasts thanks to the cost of living.
Granted this has to do more with call centers and the like. But I would much rather talk to Bubba Anne than Apu
I HAVE an HDTV, and I still dont care... 480p is more than suitable for my 32" widescreen, I cant see the picture getting THAT much sharper... on a bigger screen sure...
it always has been, even before napster artists pumped out one or two really good songs, and the rest was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. obviously there were exceptions, even today.
For me, when Napster came along, I could listen to samples of the whole album and decide if it was worth my money. I wish I had that ability back in the 80s & 90s.
Now technology has caught up with the recording industry, and it shows. People can find out what they are getting before they make their purchase, some wont even make a purchase because of being royally screwed over in the past. I will still buy a CD blind if it someone I trust to make good music, otherwise I will always test drive, and more often than not, I will walk away.
then how can they price DVDs lower? there's more people involved in the movie making process ($), thier packaging is at least as nice as CDs ($), they go through the same distribution channels ($), and they usually advertise more ($)
so why cant CDs be cheaper than DVDs again? please explain...
While in High School back in 85 when the big "clean up the air" push started, our automotive teacher wanted to point out how dirty old cars were compared to the new ones with catalytic converters and EGR valves and the like... so up first was a brand new Fiero, came out pretty clean, above the standard at the time even... then it was the 65 Chevy Chevelle, 350 CID, roller rockers, 4 Barrel Holley carb, a real hot rod... ran cleaner than the Fiero
pfffft... I used to sell (legitimate) stuff at a flea market... once a month someone would get busted for selling bootleg stuff... they are keeping an eye on sellers now since the Flea Market itself can be held liable if they try and feign ignorance concerning bootleg material.
Putin media decree arouses press freedom worries Thu Mar 15 2007 11:37:07 ET
President Vladimir Putin has decreed the creation of a new super-agency to regulate media and the Internet, sparking fears among Russian journalists of a bid to extend tight publishing controls to the relatively free Web.
Putin signed a decree to create one entity that will license broadcasters, newspapers and Web sites and oversee their editorial content.
Raf Shakirov, who was dismissed as editor of the Izvestiya daily after critical coverage of the 2004 Beslan school siege, tells REUTERS how Putin's decree could extend Soviet-style controls to Russia's online media, which have been relatively free to date.
"This is an attempt to put everything under control, not only electronic media, but also personal data about people such as bloggers," he said.
tack on the fact that somewhere in the last few years we have gone from AGP to PCI-e, RAM has gone from DDR to DDR2 and IDE drives are going the way of the dodo in favor of SATA, and processors have changed slots and are now 64 bit instead of 32. you dont just upgrade your machine at that point... you replace
sure Windows can be insecure, but if someone takes the time and responsibility they can secure it just fine. You dont blame the gun manufacturers for the person who doent know how to use a gun... Do you blame linux when a user logs in as Root and tears things up?
Could anybody enlighten me as to why people want to carry guns at all?
Because guns are legal, and as long as there are guns, bad people will get ahold of them.
there are over 300 million weapons in the US... the odds of getting shot, much less killed, are minute.
two words... stock options...

set up a honeypot, see what spam is coming in to see which stock is being pumped, then halt it on the spot.
