No, Not my problem, I have well over 500 CDs in my collection, many by complete unknowns. Thanks to Napster I was able to listen to the whole album BEFORE I decided to purchase the CD, and I DID purchase what I liked...
Its ONE thing to protect yourself, if a Thief comes into MY house, I have the right (thanks to the "Make My Day" Law, to stop them, however once they make off with the goods I do NOT have the right or legal protection to hunt them down and retrieve my stuff.
when you DL an MP3 you are NOT removing it from an RIAA server
Student cant afford to pay the money for a CD BUT wants the music (and has NO intention of spending any money even if he did... beer is more important), they have one of three choices...
1) copy a friend's CD (unless friend doesnt have CD)
2) download songs off of internet
3) goes to the local store and steals it
cases one and two the RIAA doenst lose money because the student wasnt going to buy it anyway
case three, the store, the artist, the distributor, the Record Label and the RIAA lose money...
and if you really want to be heard, BUY A STAMP and mail it to them...
what has more impact, hundreds of pounds of paper, written by people who took the time to print the info out, buy a stamp and make an effort to mail it, or an electronic email that will probbaly get mixed in with the spam?
our representatives do not respond to emails like they do to good old fashiopned snail mail, there really is a difference in having a bunch of bytes on a computer hard drive and a mailbox filled with solid tangible letters.
If you really want to get your opinions across, print out the letter and mail it to them
Im still running one, telnet only mind you, using synchronet 3.10e beta I have set up about 20 door games and have about 350 users... if you all want to play LORD, BRE, FE, Clans, Tradewars and others drop on by (the addressis in the sig)
The "Impact did not bring down the WTC, the super heating of the steel infrastucture did
each "cube" of the building was designed to withstand a certain amount of pressure, when the ones that were superheated colapsed, it increased the pressure on the lower cubes that they could not handle it, thus they collapsed, thats why the building fell straight down and not fall over when the plane hit
well they LOST this customer
if it isnt available at the pawnshop/used CD store, I aint buying it.
if it isnt available at the concerts I go to, I aint buying it...
its that simple... the RIAA, will never see another dime out of me. (and they used to get a lot... 500 CDs in my collection, 90% retail)
screw em... Purchased 2 ACDC CDs and one Megadeth CD from the Pawnshop for 9.00, and downloaded bootleg concerts from Eric Johnson and Led Zepplin from alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.bootlegs over the weekend, ever since clsoing up Napster I went from purchasing 50 NEW CDs last year to one this year (not counting those I purchased directly from the artist at the concert)
I now have 8 gigs worth of bootleg material that cant be purchased anywhere
here's a hint... don't open the attachment...

when will you realize that promoting one or two so-called good songs on a CD while the rest is crap is false advertising?
Then not being able to return the goods after the deception if discovered is panamount to fraud AND theft?
Hey Dumbass, its your hard work AND the FANS that Make you Succeed, NOT the record companies...
why do I smell another N'Suck clone coming on....
Like Microsoft, the Music Industry cant innovate anything on their own and have to steal/litigate the competition out of business...
if it was up to the RIAA, ALL music would sound like N'Stink

But it does not give you the "right" to go to that criminals house and retrieve your stuff, that is the job of the PROPER AUTHORITIES...
RIAA does NOT fall under that category
except it isnt on Morpheus, thats what I named it on MY machine
OR use .ogg (I havent messed with it yet as I use options 1&2)
kinda hard deleting/finding mp3s when they are names DP_SOTW.zip (Deep Purple, smoke on the water)

Its not that I am Anti M$, but that they cant compete on the open market with their product... so they bundle it up with the OS...
would a person, if they had a choice pick windows media player over WinAmp if they had to do research and make a choice?
would they pick (or Buy) Outlook (Express) or would they choose (Free) Agent?
Would they buy windows compression over winzip?
Would they choose IE over Netscape?
How about Defrag over Norton Utilities? (even thought they use the same engine)
let the market decide... if they dont then let those greater than them (in power anyway) punish them...
errr, I meant right click
yup very difficult... highlight the file, hold down the shift key THEN left click and select open with....
