You think this is funny? I've got some incredible stories for you then. Get this. The other day - I'm in the grocery store and there is this guy walking around with a dog! In the store! Really, no kidding. A dog in the store and this guy is holding onto a harness the dog was wearing and the dog was leading the guy around. Can you believe it? Somebody should write up a funny post about dogs who shop for humans. That's a knee slapper.
But that's not the funniest. A week before that I saw this lady out on the sidewalk waving this big white stick all over the place. Talk about from the "don't hit me dept.", she was wacking all kinds of stuff with that stick. Hide the kids! Oh man, I still laugh until I get tears in my eyes over this one.
Last year my brother took a friend of ours with ALS on the last deer hunt of his life. My brother did everything for this guy but pull the trigger. Took a lot of time to rig things up to make that possible. And someone who is unfortunate enough to be blind should be able to go hunting with some assistance. The only reason anyone would find this funny is if they are willing to completely ignore what the hunting entails and just laugh at another's misfortune. Maybe I'm wrong to be bothered by this - but I think it is sad that I'm seeing it in so many places being presented as a humorous story.
i'm pretty familiar with huds in jets. (and i wouldn't call the ihadss helmet setup goggles) that's a good point about glass damage - but it seems you could do something similar by placing the hud inside. but with cutting edge stuff you can't really talk about cost -- of course any of this is going to be expensive. the point is, this doesn't make sense if you are driving - as they allude to in their example. it also doesn't make a lot of sense for walking around, unless whatever is connected to the projector is pretty small too. although i guess that's pretty doable now. it seems it might work for someone at a desk - say a reception area, if they wanted to be able to keep up a view of the area and still have access to computer screens or something.
displays as well as a wee projector is that like the sensor bar?
allow you to focus on the humans, trees, road block for those of you driving in motor vehicles equipped with media players and the proper output connections. and if so - why not a hud built into the wind shield?
i could see this as a cool thing but the whole lightness and cool factor drops a bunch when there's a cable running down your back and your tethered to whatever is feeding the projector.
eh, they settled on the rumble. you could be right. if i was a betting man i'd set up a pool on this. geek gambling at its best because what actually happens will have (i predict) zero impact on my life other than popping up as another slashdot story or two later. it does provide something to wager on but that's about it.
it's obviously bogus so really the question is will nintendo settle or take the chance of losing the case in a trial? i'm going with settle. it's what i would do and write it off as a cost of doing business.
that would be nice. of course - it is also fun to just dig through the books looking for that one strip and laughing at some of the gems that had slipped your mind over the years.
Has anyone reviewed the gamecube version? I realize that the wii is the more inexpensive of the new consoles, but it is still outside my price range. I'm interested in hearing how the game is without all the waving and what not. Will this be like having a 3-d movie but no glasses for those of us still on the cube?
i've never used the live search before - so maybe this is obvious to people who do, but it is pretty cool. just by searching on some generic words i'm getting back some very interesting books.
right - you can only look at the cost of production in light of the revenue generated. pro athletes make 'crazy' money because fans pay 'crazy' money for tickets and merchandise. but i'm not sure he was complaining as just saying he didn't think the current situation was sustainable.
I really don't understand where the money goes for the annual sports game like FIFA ## & Madden ## (although I've not actually played Madden). The graphics and gameplay show only extremely minor improvements year on year, yet they claim development costs of many millions.
So where does the money actually go?
the nfl didn't give them an exclusive contract for peanuts
I just realized, this is like the Seinfeld where George made the eggs with lobster - but in this case I'm getting people who avoid the front page to read it without realizing what they've done.
The catastrophe is that these mistakes have led to the demise of many of these companies.
Maybe this is a fine point, but I can think of a lot of catastrophes in the last 20 years and none of them has to do with the demise of any company. I know it may be traumatic for those involved but catastrophe seems a bit strong. And from what I gather from the review, most of the companies mentioned still exist, though they are possibly not as dominant as they once were.
you really think this will have an impact on the stock price? i'm thinking the people with the power to influence that wont even be aware of this. it's an interesting idea, but i doubt it would work. have to watch it that week and see what happens.

not only that- how many free db's provide a supported back end for peoplesoft?
that's interesting. i read an ars article that said they did, but i can't find anything else that says so.

there are three other ways, and i hold patents on them all. i'd tell you about them but then i'd have to sue you.

thanks - pretty sweet.
and don't they normally do that? i saw reviews for this on the wii before the wii was out.

That's remarkable. A debate begun and settled in a single sentence. So it is all about IP.
and to search books http://books.live.com/

they aren't banning it. they are banning the use of voip that comes from outside the country, doesn't pay taxes, isn't bound by Indian law, etc.
i see what you are saying, i'm still not sure about the irony though. but that is a good point.
i wouldn't call that ironic - maybe a coincidence or 'interestingly enough' but not ironic.

2 did and when it is done with 1 you wont need 3 - you'll be living it.

no opec nations getting in on this action?
