And it supported my pcmcia Orinoco Silver 802.11b card out of the box. Not to mention my pcmcia noname brand Firewire card. This is with the stock Mandrake 9.0 install.
If Mac OS is so easy to use, why doesn't everyone use it???
Not only that, but you can't buy any new PDA from www.handspring.com anymore. Models advertised vs models available for sale from Handsrping has been slowly declining for months now:(
And Apple sold about $14.6 million in a market of $4.47 billion. That is about 0.00326% market share, in dollars. If every one is bought at the current cheapest price ($2799) that is about 5216 machines sold. Not impressive numbers at all.
That is because of Orange. They are the cell phone manufacturer after all. Microsoft is just providing all the add on cr@p that a cell phone doesn't really need (mp3 and video).
Button size, signal receiver, lack of RF, lack of BT (keeps size and price a bit smaller), those were choices made by Orange. No J2E is Microsoft. Although I am not sure why no J2E is bad, but that might just be me.
The reason that fuel efficeincy is no better than 25 years ago is because of the supreme stupidity of the American government. Instead of focusing on both mpg and emissions, they chose only to focus on emissions. I guess nobody used the analogy of how many super tankers of petrol is used per day, based on 15mpg overall average versus 18 or 20. Oops.
However, the tax rate hasn't changed since 1991, and the more fuel-efficient cars on the highways are sucking down far less fuel. The result, according to Whitty, is that tax income hasn't been able to keep pace with inflation, or with the need for additional road repairs due to increased traffic.
Gas guzzlers indeed.
Also, more cars on the road = more gas burned, but not enough to counter inflation combined with better fuel economy for the other classes of vehicles.
Someone needs to make an example of that judge. What a dimwit. Is there any online list of public officials that deserve immediate execution? If there is, please move this guy to the front of the line.
Anyone else like the idea of permanent (more or less) phone numbers that follow you no matter where you live? Some talk of doing that in the US to cut down on the quantity of phone numbers that are kept out of rotation everytime somebody moves and gets a replacement phone number.
All the tests are usually hand written still (aside from CS classes). Repetition is good. Hand write the basics, and anectdotes, as well as any other 'major concepts' that are mentioned during lecture. All the while that $15.00 mini tape recorder is getting the exact record for you. Transcribe to digital form later (2nd time handling data), both paper copy as well as anything gleened from tape that you missed. Study for exams (3rd time). Take the exams (4th time).
TiVo isn;'t big enough tp influence the life or death of a show. All it can provide is what ads work for TiVo owners (Britney Spears 2002 Super Bowl ad was a perfect example in the article).
As to the policies of a company, they change. Some for the better, most for the worse:(
Unless sales of the quarterly report drop, and then the aggregate data is based on something other than zip code, say... street. And then address... and then household... and then individual box.
There is nothing that says TiVo can't do something like that. Given the relatively slow adoption of the service, the lack of price decreases for the hardware, lack of a real advertising campaign (in CT where I live 45min from NYC), and diminishing competition, I see this sort of slippery slope cenario to be a valid possibility.
In the end, TiVo cares more about staying in business then the happiness of some of its users.

The sales recovered recently after Acer launched its first Centrino-based Tablet PC, the TravelMate C110, in April. Monthly sales of Acer's Tablet PCs have grown by 20-30% from early this year, sources said.
So a new, faster, less power draining processor, has INCREASED sales?
Still does not make up fo price, but it is nice to see that while a small market, it is not stagnant.
You move any window by pressing alt, then click anywhere in the window and drag. It is EXCELLENT, and when you think about it, isn't it really weird to have to aim for a small title bar to move the window? Like having to grab the top end of a paper on your desk to move it.
WindowMaker does the same thing. Very lightweight, without looking completely spartan. Myself, I am not keen on the absolute minimalist look, reminds me of Apple too much (OS 9 and before);)
80hr refurb for $249 is on special right now....
Amazon has both "V - The Original TV Miniseries" and "V - The Final Battle" for sale on DVD. Both together will set you back about $33.48.
Ever installed Mandrake?
I didn't think so.

Bad math skills. Sorry guys & gals.
Either way, in the server market, Apple doesn't amount to a hill of beans. There are more Linux servers sold than xServes.

Only about 25% of all Macs actually run OS X today. Most are still on OS 9.

Sometimes I really do hate this country
Buy the iMac with the 17" screen and this desk.
To call from the US to:
Taiwan: 011-886-.....
China: 011-86-......
etc etc
There really isn't anything universal about it. Phone numbers don't even have the same number of digits within the same country.
How about the same for phone numbers also?

Nielsen has decades of data to extrapolate(sp?) from, TiVo does not.
I would rather use my iPod. My choice _all_ the time. I have bought enough cd's over the years to make it worth my time to set it up properly.
As an aside, 10GB last gen iPod's (refurb) for $199 from www.apple.com

I guess Apple was tired of the iBook undermining 12" PB sales...?
Notice that the price drop is only for the 867MHz models? Maybe the 1GHz G4 is soon going to be the new low end?

Yeah the new "T" line looks sweet.

Ah well... maybe by Christmas I will have money for a new machine.
