off the windows version is fine with me, but when it is 35% (inferred from statement that macintosh is 65%) of revenues sounds rather stupid.

not to be a troll, but it is stupid business decisions like this that hampers the growth of apple. steve jobs is good for some things, but i don't think long range planning is one of them (he is great for revitalizing the 'look and feel' of things though).

i wonder if stuff like this is filed into the memory of bill gates when he negotiates with apple? it could be on a list of reasons to discontinue ms office, or IE (no great loss that one).

Bigger is better, I know, I know. I think Dell, or maybe it is Gateway, not sure, has a 15.7" display for their laptops now (yep, Gateway does).

And your gripe about poor viewing angles has been a moot point for at least a year or two now. Besides, the entire point of a laptop is that IT'S MOBILE. You could just move it a bit.
Less standardization? You should have said "less options."

I have no troubles calling MS or MSNBC a bunch of muckracking FUD spreaders, if it can be backed up. As far as this article goes, too many people read the biased post, ignored the article and started posting the usual anti-MS rants.

The article gave credit where it is due, serverside. As for the desktop, the article stated it much as it is; getting better, but still lacking.

The idea of open source might have been derided, but the accomplishments seem to have been stated fairly close to the truth.

    IMO, of course.

as for advertising, a lot of that is due to microsoft not advertising winxp or office xp so much (think stupid madonna ads) anymore.

And you forget, if you are the standard, such as Microsoft is, you can charge whatever you want, and the people have to pay, otherwise they can't use your product. This is true for an OS, as well as proprietary file formats, such .doc or .xls or whatever else. Own the file format, and usually the customer has to own the program to use the format.
