True, but it makes me wonder how they'd hold up to the softball sized hail that regularly crops up in colorado.
I also remain curious about the weight- roofs seem to be supported by thinner and fewer A frames and you can see in many roofs where they sag rather obviously on either side of a beam. Will roofs have to be made stronger to support these heavy glass panels? I thought many of the recent ones were thinner and made with plastics? I saw one on TV the other day that was made to look like that sheet stuff that has thin shake-like things on it- even had nails through it for holding it up.
Package format isn't the problem really, it's just the mentality that Fedora folks have when making RPMs that they compile in every conceivable feature and thus the dependency chain is miles long. CentOS 5 seems like the best blend of hardware support and streamlined packages seen so far in the RPM based line. I switched to Fedora from CentOS to get around hardware problems, but with CentOS 5, I'm switching back again- makes life a lot easier.
I've never watched the show, never had even heard of it, and maybe the NutsOnline guys hadn't either.. but at least they're making money like never before.. I'm left with a major craving for peanuts. Half tempted to order from NutsOnline myself and see if they're even any good (assuming I'll get the order before the end of the year).
People are up in arms about the databases being merged and whatnot.. but I've often heard of banks being able to use the stripe of any card as is in order to identify your account. The hash of the card is like the database key it looks up and pulls up the accounts tied to the card. I've seen people around here use other cards in the ATM (student ID's for one). I don't think that using your drivers license necessarily means altering any of the information on the card (having the DMV need to know your unique identifier at your bank (they don't have account numbers on the ATM cards ever anyway).. The bank swipes your card once and the hash is setup as the primary key in a db table that says what accounts that card can access. This most likely isn't the big brother thing people think.
Sorry - I had assumed the little clips were so well known that I would be being somewhat redundant or space sucking or something if I said them outright- plus it would ruin the joke;)
I guess the videos are better known in mention than experience. They're on a fair number of DVDs (though a decreasing number it seems?) anymore and often when you go to the theater. I used to be a big theater buff, but when tickets went from $7 to $9 to $10 to $11/ticket within 2 years, I gave up. I invested in a good home theater instead and never regretted it. I like watching in private and being able to pause, get popcorn, beer, whatever;)
sadly, it does now that I look at it. darn you! My post traumatic stress from my original (and unsuspecting) goatse viewing in college has come back- I'll send you my therapy bill.
Not to mention the teens making out behind you, the other teen on her cell phone in front and two seats over, the texan with the big hat in front of you and the screaming baby in the rear, the either freezing or burning hot temperature of the place, etc etc..
There's very little reason to go to the cinema anymore- it's not a group experience like it once was, you don't talk with people afterwards, in fact if you're lucky you only have to ask someone to shut up once. Home stereos can sound pretty great, and don't cost as much as they once did and even projectors are somewhat affordable, with big screen TV's being pretty great too.
There's very little reason not to watch on dvd, and the only reasons not to download is to support the people/companies involved if you like it or to avoid going to jail.
I have a huge collection of purchased dvds, so don't go pointing fingers at me, but I do have strong opinions about downloading.
"YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A HANDBAG YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A TELEVISION YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A DVD"
I was just saying that when you 'steal' a movie by downloading it, you're not taking a copy away from someone- like when you steal a car or a handbag or a television, or anything tangible for that matter.
I also was saying that if you do pirate the movie, when you go to watch it and see the little video, its already too late for it to make a difference and wouldn't anyway.
Even if you -do- pirate the movie, by the time you see the video, it's too late. You're either a) already busted or b) not going to change your ways because you 'saw the light'
Just remember, you wouldn't 1:1 copy a car without the owner ever knowing.
Well, look, I already told you. I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don't have to!! I have people skills!! I am good at dealing with people!!! Can't you understand that?!? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!!!!!!!
Unbox started as a PC only product and added TiVo capability later. You can most certainly go to PC or TiVo. Once you delete a movie off your TiVo, a couple days later it shows up as able to download to the PC again.
When I last used it (month or two ago) there was a drop down box that showed me my two tivos and my two desktops and you choose which one you want to send it to when you do the '1-click'.
that was just one example- what if the line didn't work at all, no dialtone. They still have no reason to maintain the line as well as a paying customer.
not everyone is injured in a tornado/flood/whathaveyou. Emergency responders need all the help they can get in finding survivors right away rather than you having to wait for days until they sweep past your house and maybe miss you being buried under concrete in the basement and having passed out long before they got there.
Costs money to keep that loop happy and takes up a switch port. Now what if the line wasn't properly maintained and you tried to call 911 in an emergency and they couldn't hear anything but static due to line noise and you died. Your family would sue tha pants off the phone company for not providing adequate 911 service on your 'free' line. It's better all around that they don't give you free 911 access- they won't maintain it properly since they have no incentive so you're better served knowing you should go nextdoor or use another means.
I accidentally did it once with their TivoToGo Unbox deal- it promptly went to my computer and refused to let me also put it on the TiVo. I ended up getting a refund, but it took two days, so much for watching the movie that night.
I didn't say average joe- what about a big media company wanting to legally post a video on the system, and someone else posts the same thing so they ask for that to be taken down, wouldn't the filter catch themselves?
The submitter was too busy to write english correctly.. 'ones find in a woman breast'.. submitter must have reverted to his primate self upon encountering an article about breasts.
I substituted subjects unintentionally- forgive my mistake. I meant that if someone posted a copy of the video on the same service, what happens when the rightful owner requests a takedown.

and do you think the law separates that minor distinction? I'd call it a portable console. Is the PSP not a console then either?

Hm.
Usually true (I use that quite a bit), but I recently ordered a movie they didn't have in stock and it took a Visa inquiry to get my money back.
oh, imax is a whole nother ball of beautiful wax- but IMAX isn't very accessible in a lot of places.

I used to live in the SF Bay Area, California- I've had very few of the same experiences here in Iowa. YMMV

Yes, I'll take The Rapists for 20.

Here's a screen capture. You can clearly see my Desktop PC listed as an option.
