Does anybody know where I can get decent...NON STREAMING video of this historic even? I've check some torrent sites and all the common news sites. CNN sucks...you have to pay...even then it's streaming...no torrent sites have video, but they have lots of "kill bill" and porn. Argh. A little help anybody?
Yes, the google gods have proven themselves worthy time and time again. Ask Slashdot is for opinions and experiences, both which Google fails to provide. Insighful? No. Obvious? Yes.
Probably sounds a lot like this when you convert it to a wav... Oh s**t! oh s**t! oh s**t! oh f**k! oh s**t! god damn mother f**ker! and it loops for about 3 days.
I hadn't thought about that. Who knows if the recent steam release is hacked! Can you imagine ALL steam clients being hijacked for a giant DOS attack? Holy crap!
It's not just you. I thought about the exact same points you discussed.
It doesn't matter that the media is FOCUSED on power outages now. There have not been significant blackouts in a LONG time in many of these countries. Am I making any sense? Trees that fall may be recorded in history, but I never bother to look at the information. NOW, more trees are falling and I am looking back in history to see that this is a strange occurance. What is so wrong with being paranoid?
I completley agree that dismissing paranoid or overly suspicious claims works against the public.
My buddy Aaron installed the update which was SAID to be stable. God only knows what happened to his laptop...I kept getting periodic status updates like, "I hate my powerbook!" and "I need a new computer." A few hours later he said it was a bad update. So he wiped his machine, did a clean install, and was running again. Aaron...if you are reading tell the nice people of your misery:*)

Oh come on! Like you really need a P4 to experience the "power" of the internet and listen to mp3's. If you want to talk about bad marketing tactics include Intel in the discussion!
The UW labs in Seattle were hit real hard by the Blaster worm. Thus, the UW campus network was a mess for a bit. Main causes: First, students can use the computers for whatever they want... i.e. the computers are very open. Second, IT didn't patch the computer.
Now you may wonder why I said "computer" and not "computers". Well here is why...the UW has an imaged drive lab. So one computer is used to push updates to EVERY single computer. Everytime a student logs off a computer the hard drive is made fresh again (cleaned) by the master server. That ensures proper working order and minimum IT staff work. Anything the student installed is erased too.
A buddy of mine modded his xbox. Now he has every NES and SNES game on his HD all selectable through a custom menu. It's hard to feel bad for companies when a console jukebox is sitting right in front of you!

I'm in Washington State. Thanks for the tip on contacting the public service commission! Oh and to the poster above...the only reason I have rejected satellite is because of the latency. I do a lot of terminal sessions (unix/windows) and gaming. My only saving grace is working for a technology company that knows enough to install lots of bandwidth:)

BTW...screw Verizon and Comcast, I have been phoning them for over 2 years now with little or no progress. "Soon" they say.
A 60 minutes segment yesterday reminded views that SARS is far less dangerous than Malaria.
Malaria kills almost 1 million world wide per year.
It is also important to mention that SARS could just be a wake up call, one which prods the public to pursue these deadly diseases. If anything, SARS will establish guidelines to prevent future disease outbreaks.

Good times.
I agree. What in the hell is the middle ground? Everybody says NO to the patriot act, but does this have to be polar?
How would YOU change the patriot act?
Woah woah woah woah... you actually rebooted? lol

I watched Caligula in fast forward with some friends at a party. Much better use of time :)
Good information! I like what you have to say...but still, why all these massive blackouts?
:)
If I agree that they are random, then you must tell me WHAT is causing them.

Please! Half Life 2 MIGHT run on a PS2, but there is no way it is going to look "Half" decent too!
The X-Box only port is not some giant conspiracy. It's just a better gaming platform for Half Life 2.
(P.S. I run linux)

Good news is that this suit has a programable extensions support. Bad news is that there is a Viagra extension in the works...

No no no. You are mistaking water for weird invisible ghosts that contain all of the knowledge on Mars.
Besides, what is the hurry, we must grok Mars before we take any action.
